Interesting private road zebra crossing in Cremorne (NOT a City of Yarra initiative). A 3x crossing length to slow vehicles prior to the central crossing point. It’s pleasing to see good initiatives being implemented- just needs council to catch up to provide a safe road network for pedestrians and cyclists in Cremorne.

Re-thinking Roads: 'Going Dutch'? It's good news indeed to hear that collisions and casualties on 20mph and 30mph roads have fallen by almost a quarter compared to the same period in 2023, the lowest recorded outside of the pandemic when our roads went quiet practically overnight. https://lnkd.in/ee5BxUhj However the opening of a new Dutch-style roundabout in Sheffield has been delayed, with some in the city raising concerns that it may be 'confusing'. So, a bit like driving around some of our existing roundabouts then. "The new road layout is designed to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists over motor vehicles. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said similar roundabouts in the Netherlands had reduced serious incidents by about 46%". If we want to encourage people to leave their cars at home, then the alternatives need to be much safer, more practicable, affordable and enjoyable. I wonder if we'll see any 'Dutch-style' roundabouts, or even Dutch style transport planning, being rolled out across Cymru any time soon 🤔

As you drive towards the toll lane/gate, look for the lane signals: GREEN ARROW indicates an open lane, and the RED X means the lane is closed. Always reduce your speed to 20km/hr as you approach. #RoadSafety #KEEUG
