Flash Back Friday to 2021 and Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA. In partnership with Timberline Construction, CSL Consulting and EYP Architects, HBMI provided the HVAC trade for a 26,250 SF two-story residence hall building with 60 student rooms and four faculty apartments. Carlisle and Hancock Halls, now Cushing Academy’s most energy-efficient building, is the first residence hall to be tied into the new central heating plant. The heating system is supplied by (5) 3 million BTU boilers with supplemental pumps along with an energy recovery ventilator with dual heat / cool options. Supplemental heating and cooling is supplied by split system VRF and baseboard fin tube. #flashbackfriday #academic #projects #HVAC #plumbing #pipefitting #mechanical

Heat Pump Myth Busting: Today's heat pumps perform in both hot and cold weather: https://buff.ly/4aCioHc Green Builder Matt Hoots of Sawhorse, Inc. reviews key considerations for optimizing heat pump performance. Use the right #equipment for the job, #insulate and #airseal, and operate and maintain properly for #savings & #energyefficiency gains. It's also important to design and plan properly. Ideally, systems will be variable, so they can adjust for actual conditions and not assume “design” conditions, which only exist for a percentage of the time. Education is also key, for professionals and also for the consumers who will operate and maintain systems. Without these conversations and proper planning and testing, we risk replacing existing systems without analyzing what improvements we can and should make, and this leads to wasted energy and money and often a lack of comfort as well. #HVAC #heatpumps #heating #cooling #airconditining #insulation #airsealing #IAQ #health #comfort #homes #building #buildings #construction #architecture #design #engineering #technology #decarbonization #electrification #greenbuilding #climatechange #sustainability

Build Energy is our go-to expert for air tests at our SIP construction sites so when Mike, one of their air test engineers completed an air test on one of our SIPs home, we had the chance to understand his experience with doing air test on SIP homes. Mike shared that when a SIP structure is constructed correctly, it significantly outperforms traditional builds in air tests. He also emphasised that SIPs tick all the boxes for easier testing and ensuring a quality product, due to their excellent airtightness and structural integrity. This is just one of the great benefits of a SIPs structure. The structural design of a SIP panel gives it the ability to be extremely air tight meaning the amount of energy used to heat and cool a room can be cut by up to 50%. A SIPs structure is not only more energy-efficient but also more sustainable compared to conventional construction methods. Stay tuned for more air test insights from the team at Build Energy coming soon! #airtest #airtesting #energyefficientexperts #energyefficiency #energyefficienthomes #sipbuilding #sipsconstruction #sipanel #siphouse

rheia's Comfort by Design - Smaller, Energy & Labor Efficient HVAC Air Distribution. https://buff.ly/3l70nsL Win-ins include energy efficiency, improved comfort & labor and operational savings. Why is HVAC ductwork so big and bulky, and tangled? We’ve made changes to electrical and plumbing systems, so why not HVAC ducts? Clearly, it’s time for something new. How about 3” ductwork that works with a conventional air handler and snaps together easily, and also provides greater comfort and efficiency? Total building time, and project waste, are reduced as well. #HVAC #ventilation #ducts #airducts #air #airquality #indoorairquality #energy #energyefficiency #building #buildings #construction #design #architecture #engineering #labor #materials #greenbuilding #savings #rheia
