#hiring Mission: St. Louis Social & Engagement VISTA, Saint Louis, United States, fulltime #jobs #jobseekers #careers #SaintLouisjobs #Missourijobs Apply: https://lnkd.in/gm8J-dFP Mission: St. Louis Social & Engagement VISTA Mission: St. Louis is a community development nonprofit that empowers people to be leaders in their lives, families and neighborhoods. We are unique in our approach, fighting poverty using a community-based model that values relationship and opportunity. We hold closely to the belief that we can all learn from each other, regardless of status, race, or social position. Through taking time to build relationships that move beyond the traditional helper-helpee dynamic, we seek to restore dignity to people who live in now-struggling communities. The experts in a community are those who are living there, taking part in the life of the neighborhood every single day. We want to serve alongside those experts, empowering them to lead the way in bringing about lasting change and through creating access to opportunities for education or employment. Our vision is that people live in neighborhoods full of opportunity, know and serve their neighbors, and are invited into gospel-centered community. Our goals are to develop people and communities holistically, empower impoverished and underserved people to grow and develop in all aspects of their lives, and work alongside individuals to inspire and develop indigenous leadership. To accomplish these goals, we focus on:

Inspired by mallory contois, I've come to realize the power of building a portfolio career. I'm one of those people who dives all the way in - heart first into my career. Our careers help shape who we are, drives the impact we create and how we spend roughly 90,000 hours over our lifetime. But who says you need to focus on one career trajectory? I've gone from working in microfinance investing, to nonprofit leadership, political advocacy, and now corporate social responsibility. A portfolio career means that you're investing into different versions of yourself across for profit, nonprofit, volunteering, advocacy and everything in between. my portfolio career includes: Rawan the social impact leader Rawan the monday.com expert Rawan the partnerships guru Rawan the technology for impact enthusiast Rawan the community builder Rawan the advocacy specialist Rawan the storyteller Rawan the Linkedin contributor Rawan the Palestinian Brooklyner who defied the odds of poverty and shattered glass ceilings across multiple industries. what's yours?

I like to think of myself as a vocational matchmaker. Judging by the smiles in this picture, this was a match made in heaven! This post, from Michaela, an exceptionally talented candidate I connected to an exciting role 3 months ago, perfectly encapsulates why I love working in temporary recruitment in the Charity sector. I regularly hear how influential a seemingly short-term assignment can be to the life of the employee and to the organisation who has ‘borrowed’ their skills for a while. Whilst in other sectors it might be common, with #charity jobs it’s incredibly rare that a candidate is purely doing a temp role to get a bit of cash! There is that feeling of making a difference and highlighting an important cause to people who might be able to help. Plus, you could meet a group of like-minded passionate individuals from another State, who it’s likely you’d never have met otherwise. I’ve worked with candidates whose temp assignment completely changed their career trajectory, some of those are now leaders in their field. So, if you are toying with the idea of trying #temporaryjobs for the first time, let’s have a conversation. They say a picture says a thousand words, so I’ll let you judge how it might work out for you!
For the past three months I’ve had the privilege of taking on the temp role of Digital Marketing Specialist at Canberra Hospital Foundation. I always knew it would be temporary but what I didn’t know was the permanent place this incredible group of women would etch on my heart. I had the pleasure of going to Canberra this week to finally meet the team and finish up my role doing the thing I love most, story telling and connecting community via their flagship fundraising event, CAN GIVE DAY. A small but mighty team, I am in awe of what they are able to achieve and will forever be grateful for having had the opportunity to work alongside them. ❤️ (Thanks to Katherine Holeyman for that, ya beauty!) Public Policy and Government Relations Professional | Regional Director, U.S. Senator Gary Peters | University of Michigan - Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, M.P.P. Candidate '24
In the past three months as a Regional Director, I've been deeply immersed in the vibrant heart of Detroit, working closely with our local communities. The journey has been both enlightening and profoundly rewarding, offering me firsthand insights into the power of tailored community outreach. Here are some key takeaways: 1. Listening is Fundamental: True engagement starts with listening. Detroit's diverse voices have taught me that understanding unique community needs leads to more impactful initiatives. 2. Collaboration Over Competition: Partnering with local leaders and organizations isn't just beneficial; it's essential. These collaborations strengthen our outreach efforts and multiply the impacts of our shared goals. 3. Adaptability is Key: Each community has its dynamics and challenges. Adapting our approach to meet these specific circumstances has been crucial in fostering trust and achieving our objectives. These insights have not only informed our strategic approaches but also deepened my dedication to advancing criminal justice reform and improving public policy. As I continue to learn and grow in this role, I am excited about the potential to drive even more meaningful change in the months and years to come! #CommunityOutreach #SocialJustice

A heartfelt thank you to My HR Pros, Fort Smith Regional Alliance, and City of Van Buren, Arkansas for supporting my participation in Community Development Institute (CDI) Central this week! I wanted to share 10 of the most impactful things I learned in Year 1: 1. A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader. A great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves! 2. People don’t want to work where they don’t want to live. 3. Everyone has a voice and everyone has a role in their community. 4. Collaborative problem solving + respectful dialogue + diversity of opinion = transformative change 5. Data gives your story strength. 6. Your downtown is what your community thinks of itself. 7. 3 critical, often missed steps in volunteer management: increase responsibilities and growth opportunities, recognition and celebration, and exiting volunteers gracefully. 8. If my community is above average I can expect to live above the average lifespan. 9. Every leader needs to know 5 good things about their community. 10. What can you repurpose in your community to give you an advantage? Our keynote speaker was from the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute! She shared that moving to Petit Jean was the sunrise of Rockefeller’s dreams. I relate to that so much! I strongly encourage every community leader to consider participating in CDI. If you have any questions about the nationwide program, please let me know!
