I recently had a fascinating experience while prospecting a client. They had been working with a competitor for almost 10 years, and even my colleagues said we had no chance of getting them on board. But as we all know in the event industry, things change all the time. This particular client runs one of the biggest festivals in Atlantic Canada, so I kept a close eye on their team, waiting for an opportunity. And guess what? The Executive Director of the festival changed! I immediately reached out to her to explore a potential collaboration. To my surprise, she was interested! Being her first year in this role, she wanted to make sure the festival was amazing, and she was open to new ideas and partners. This experience reminded me of an important lesson: never give up on a client, even if they seem committed to a competitor. You never know when things might change. Sales, to me, is about showing people why they need your product or service, being honest about how you can help, and then moving forward together.
