A wonderful time was had by all who attended our Birmingham Holiday Party last night! It was great to connect with team members and their partners outside of the office. The games and giveaways were the cherry on top! Continuing in the spirit of giving, we collected pillows and stuffed animals for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization providing beds for children in need. Thank you, Sleep in Heavenly Peace for the opportunity to serve our community! #harrisdoyle #harrisdoylehomes #lifewellcrafted #harrisdoylegivesback #sleepinheavenlypeace #sleepinheavenlypeacebeds

The recent wildfires in Los Angeles have caused immense devastation, particularly impacting community centers that serve as vital lifelines for residents. The loss of the Palisades YMCA, a cornerstone of the community for 60 years, exemplifies the profound effect on local nonprofits. (Thanks for the post Mark Dengler. My thoughts are with you and everyone affected.) Community centers like the YMCA of the USA provide essential services and safe gathering spaces. Their destruction leaves significant voids in the support systems of affected neighborhoods. For those looking to contribute, several funds have been established to aid in the recovery efforts: California Fire Foundation's Wildfire & Disaster Relief Fund: Provides immediate and long-term relief to communities and survivors affected by wildfires. https://lnkd.in/eGAtuQZJ California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund: Focuses on intermediate and long-term recovery needs following wildfires in California, with special efforts to serve the most disaster-vulnerable populations. https://lnkd.in/euSHGFVu The Emergency Assistance Foundation's People First Fund for Southern California Wildfires: Provides direct financial assistance to individuals and families impacted by the wildfires. https://lnkd.in/esRie6Up By supporting these funds, we can help restore the invaluable community centers and nonprofits that are the heart of Los Angeles neighborhoods.
It is with great heartbreak that I share that the beloved Palisades YMCA has been lost to us due to the devastating fires racing through many parts of Southern California. A building originally constructed as a movie theater and converted to a YMCA served this community for 60 years churning out dedicated staff members and servicing this tight knit community and in many ways serving as its anchor.

To my fellow black people, please stay vigilant, defensive, & aware of your surroundings. We are not amongst friends. Becoming complacent during the Trump Era is a mistake. Maybe a deadly mistake if you get caught slipping. So. Don't get caught slipping. Tips to survive the #TrumpEra 1) Try to travel in multiples. There is strength in numbers. 2) If an altercation happens with a Karen, a mini-Karen, or a male-Karen before you do or say anything to them, pull out your phone & begin recording. In this day & age of 'he said, she said' recording testy exchanges is vital. 3) After recording incident, immediately take to social media and report the incident using the Hashtag #BlackLinkedin or #BlackTwitter or #BlackLivesMatter. Within hours our A-List Internet sleuths will help you identify whoever the white person is and where they work. 4)Launch campaign against the aggressors Employer to demand that, that person be fired. 5) Wherever possible, ALWAYS press charges with authorities. No more turning the other cheek. It's time for us to stop focusing on Dr. Kings nonviolent teachings and pay more attention to Malcolm's teachings. The honorable Malcolm X once said: Nonviolence only works on people with a conscious. #TruerWordsHaveNeverBeenSpoken. I highly recommend reading Malcom's #TheBallotOrTheBullet. It will give you a brand new perspective on just how evil, devious, & downright diabolical some white people are.
This IS NOT how I wanted to come back to LinkedIn, but here we go. 🤦🏾♀️ At around 3 a.m. Tuesday in downtown Raleigh, a black owned safe-space for the creatives and quirkies, the House of Art, was set ablaze allegedly by the person below. 👇🏾 The House of Art is a “non-traditional museum" located in a historic house, offering visitors a chance to enjoy drinks, music, and various events (including ones centering mental health). I just spent a part of my birthday there. 😢 Assuming this lady has a job other than allegeded fire starter I’m posting here in hopes that someone can provide any tips that can help the Raleigh Crime Stoppers.🕵🏾♀️https://lnkd.in/g-ckwm79 Also, if you can please, gift their gofundme to help rebuild this foundation that houses so so many communities in the area: https://gofund.me/974ca74f Thank you in advance! Note: This isn’t my company, but this place matters and I just want to help how I can. #Raleigh #RaleighNorthCarolina

When the church is slowly dying, there is a tendency to cut itself off from the ever-changing neighborhood around it. Instead of putting up barriers between the church and community, begin to see the community as a helpmate in redeeming the church. As Christ is in the church so too, he is in the neighborhood. Imagine how the church could open its campus as a community park with a new playground, a dog park in a fenced-in area, or put up a large picnic shelter where the neighborhood could host community yard sales or birthday parties. Begin to reimagine the community and the church with eyes outward instead of eyes inward on the church's needs. #ChurchRevitalization

THE POWER OF VOLUNTEER TEAMS IN COMMUNITY PROJECTS Volunteer teams play a vital role in driving community projects, transforming compassion into action. 1 Peter 4:10 encourages, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." Mobilizing volunteers harnesses the power of collective effort, significantly enhancing community transformation initiatives. Volunteers bring passion, energy, and diverse skills to projects, making it possible to reach more people and accomplish more goals. Their selfless service is a testament to God's love in action, inspiring others to get involved and contribute. By organizing and supporting volunteer teams effectively, we can create a powerful force for good, capable of addressing a wide range of community needs and bringing about lasting change. Volunteers not only meet immediate needs but also build stronger, more connected communities through their dedication and service. Will you volunteer?

Today, on Saint Nicholas Day, we're reminded that kindness is contagious, and its effects can be just as powerful as any medicine. Small acts of compassion, like a warm smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand, can brighten someone's day and have a ripple effect on their well-being. Studies show that kindness can reduce stress, boost immunity, and even improve heart health. So, let's embrace the spirit of Saint Nicholas and spread cheer throughout our communities. Whether it's checking in on a neighbor, volunteering our time, or simply offering a kind word, every act of generosity matters. Let's make this Saint Nicholas Day a celebration of everyday kindness and the positive impact it has on our individual and collective health. #Nikolaustag #StNicholas #Community #GivingBack #Volunteering #KindnessMatters #PayItForward #MakingADifference #Healthcare #CorporateSocialResponsibility #WorkplaceCulture #Leadership #PositiveImpact #acnosfamily #acnospharma

There are nine days left until Christmas and the holiday season is a powerful reminder that the most meaningful gifts often require sacrifice. True generosity isn’t about the size of the gift but the willingness to put others’ needs and happiness ahead of our own. Whether it’s giving time, energy, or resources, the act of giving from a place of selflessness creates lasting impact. I regularly donate to causes that make a direct impact in the lives of the less fortunate. Loaves and Fishes in Clarksville, TN is a organization that feeds the homeless of our community. It’s a organization open everyday except Sunday throughout the entire year. There is no judgement, no questions, just food and space. Citizens, businesses, volunteers, and church organizations sacrifice their supplies, time, and money to keep this place buzzing. In our professional lives, we have daily opportunities to embrace this mindset. It could be offering mentorship or support to a colleague by sharing your expertise or simply being present for someone who needs encouragement. These moments of sacrificial generosity, when we set aside our own priorities to help others, strengthen connections and foster trust in our teams. This season, let’s focus on giving in a way that makes a difference. When we dedicate ourselves to the joy or success of others, we not only enrich their lives but also create a ripple effect of positivity and growth. #Generosity #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture https://lnkd.in/gB2uAuJe

One of the reasons why we do what we do at Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble This indeed made our day! To know more about us, check out the link below: https://lnkd.in/dkejemAh
A simple and beautiful example as to why communities are important 👇🏻 A new parent in our Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble community recently shared that their unborn baby will have a cleft lip and palate. With support and determination, they’ve chosen to embrace the journey ahead. I was glad to see this message in the morning, it's an affirmation of the message we're trying to convey about Sirat and what people can expect. Sirat exists to ensure that families facing cleft know they're not alone. We connect parents with a supportive network, expert advice, and resources to navigate this path together. Help us reach more families—contribute here or share this post to spread the word. Contribute to the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/gXgWXwB8

Here's a little bit of a different #SafetyTopic -- Water Safety. It's pool, lake, and beach season, and taking a swim is a great way to cool off. But water needs to be respected! This summer, take steps to make sure your loved ones -- especially kids -- are safe in and around the water. In my years with the Y, some of the key things we talked about when it comes to water safety are: 🙋♂️Make sure kids know they need to ask permission before getting in the water. Make it a habit. The child gets permission, and an adult is aware! 👀 While all adults should be paying attention, consider creating shifts with designated "Water Watchers." His or her job is to watch the summer fun like a hawk with no distractions. 📵 Put your phone down! Especially the Water Watcher. 💦 Don't just watch: Get in! Model safe behavior in and around water! 🏊♀️ And finally, the best way to keep kids safe around water is to enroll in swim lessons. The Y (YMCA) invented swim lessons, and there are Ys in communities across the country. Many (Most? All?) provide support for families to participate in programs like swim lessons, even if they are struggling financially. And if you're an adult who can't swim, The Y offers adult swim lessons as well! Will you commit to being a Water Watcher this summer? #watersafety #summertime
Today was SPLASH Day and we are so grateful to our volunteers and sponsors who helped us impact hundreds of Greenville kids today. Especially Kiwanis International who provided vouchers for YMCA swim lessons for underserved communities. For SPLASH Day, we offered free water safety lessons at Prisma Health Family YMCA, Caine Halter Family YMCA, Eastside Family YMCA, and The Sullivan Apartments. Participants learned how to save themselves and others if they or a friend becomes distressed in the water. Some of us are blessed to wake up on Christmas morning with a room full of love, laughter, and family. The call of our children early in the morning, their voices full of energy and excitement. For me, it’s my very most favorite holiday for those very same reasons. I love traditions and more than anything I love my children and seeing their smiles on Christmas morning. Not everyone has this privilege. Think about children who have been recently removed from their homes, feeling uncertainty, feeling lost and a terrible feeling of grief, not knowing what has happened, not understanding why they are suddenly in a strangers home. Not understanding why “Mom” is not there, wondering where their brother or sister went, why are they not together? Confused about how nice the people are in this new home, but sad because it’s not their home, it’s not their bed, they don’t have their favorite comforting blanket and plush toy. The smell is different, the food looks different, it’s not what “Mom” cooks. Just imagine… This is the feeling of the hundreds of children placed in Foster Care and Residential homes everyday. Its not much compared to all that they have lost, but together we can help share a little joy during the most magical time of the year. Together we can make wishes come true and hope that in someway we have touch the life of a child when they need it most, together we can make a difference! Let’s spread joy together! When participating in Secret Santa you are helping a child in need, who like other children, have wishes and “maybe” a little hope. Interested? Email SecretSanta@HelixHumanServices.org with your interest. We will do our best to match your preferred age and gender. You can help by requesting one wish list and purchasing items on the list. Each wish list is written by each child/youth. I have to say - full disclosure- its fun to see how creative children can get, but sad to see wishes you can fulfill, like “I wish I could see my dad” or “I want to be with my sister”. Other ways to help is making a monetary donation (we do the shopping for you), hosting a toy drive or giving tree, or purchasing an item (or a few) from the Secret Santa Amazon Wish List. Have any questions? Lets chat! To learn more about Helix Human Services and the children and families we serve: www.HelixHumanServices.org To make a monetary donation or learn more about Secret Santa visit: https://lnkd.in/e5MEGNST To see the Amazon Wish List visit (remember as wish lists come in the list of items increases): Link coming soon. Thank you for helping make wishes come true!
This post is calling you to the “North Pole” for another season of cheer, love, and laughter! With Secret Santa, we begin our journey to ensure hundreds of children build memories free from uncertainty and loss during the holiday season. For many children and youth, the joy of waking up to a room full of gifts, family and love is a distant dream. Many of our children are experiencing loss and uncertainty. This is why year after year, our dedicated elves have proven their commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of the children and families we serve. With their help, we’ve been able to bring smiles to countless faces and spread the spirit of giving during the holiday season. As we celebrate our 159th year, we’re determined to surpass last year’s achievement of granting wishes to over 416 children, especially as the need in our community continues to grow.
