As an instructor, I always encouraged my students to apply the skills they learned in class. From written to verbal communication to grasping the basics of their field, I urged them to build their abilities. In today's job market, a degree alone is not enough. Experience is becoming just as important, if not more. The books provided in education are great, but students often struggle to apply their concepts. Unfortunately, some students who don't deserve to move forward are pushed along. As a result, they may face more challenges than those who apply what they learn early in their college career. Interestingly, those who enter the workforce at a younger age seem to have a greater advantage in moving up the corporate ladder faster. Check out this article from Fox Business to learn more about how employers are prioritizing experience over degrees. #college #education #leadership #uopeople #uophoenixcenteralca https://lnkd.in/gjAei4mT

A Year of Discovery: Embracing New Challenges This past year has been a journey of profound personal and professional growth for me. I was unexpectedly given the opportunity to lead a new upper elementary classroom at my school. Initially, I felt shocked and apprehensive for several reasons: - Qualifications: I believed my qualifications were lacking for this new role. - Competence: I thought there were others more suited for the position. - Skillset: I doubted my ability to meet the demands of teaching at this level. However, this challenge has been a catalyst for discovery. Over the past year, I’ve unearthed hidden strengths, abilities, and emotions I didn’t know I possessed. I am incredibly grateful for the support of my school’s admin team, who extended grace and guided me throughout the year. Their support, combined with the training I started and excelled in, has been invaluable. I’ve been fortunate to work with an amazing team that felt like a perfect fit—syncing like puzzle pieces and making the experience even more rewarding. As I move forward, I am excited to embrace new opportunities, step out of my comfort zone, and dive into countless possibilities. This journey has taught me the power of embracing the unknown with openness and courage. Here’s to continued growth and the endless opportunities that lie ahead! #ProfessionalGrowth #Teaching #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment #EmbraceTheChallenge #MontessoriTeaching

Today, ask yourself. Does your mindset focus on your job or your career. And, what is the difference between the two. When we focus on our job, we give most attention to the short term. We think about assignments, how to get attention and cool projects. We think about if the job is good enough, boring, worth while. And we focus on our own interests. When we focus on our career, we give attention to growth. We think about how our work connects to the broader challenges of the business, how we contribute to the goals of leadership. How to do what we are asked to do better and smarter, more efficient and higher impact. We invest in relationships that will drive mentorship and advocacy. Career mindset is longer term and we see what we are doing now is a walk in the path. #archercareer #microlearning #careergrowth #students #graduatestudents #professionaldevelopment #careers

Our education system prioritizes academics but does not teach life skills. We graduated with knowledge of facts and formulas but missed essential life lessons. These "life skills" are crucial for success but often ignored in traditional education. Imagine a system that balances academics with the skills we need to thrive in life. Imagine students graduating with knowledge and real-world confidence. The next generation deserves an education that truly prepares them. What life skill do you think schools should prioritize? Let’s discuss in the comments! 👇 #LifeSkills #EducationReform #Leadership
