Making "connecting and maintenance" of electricity easy, through building trust and always improving our #Infinitegame.
Just a little shy of five years and a bit sooner than planned... but what a journey it has been—truly amazing! 🎉 ✨ 🍻 In 2019, with a strong desire to return to the Engineering Field Service world, I had the incredible fortune to connect with Richard Bowie—an exceptional engineer and an even better person. Richard was leading a talented team of 12 at Rising Edge Technologies (Eng) Ltd. At that time, engineering was searching for an engineering manager to help steer the team, and I was eager to continue from where I left off a few years earlier, looking beyond just managing. With a little luck, through strategic vision and organizational changes, and by fostering #BuildingRelationships, #BuildingTrust, and #BuildingLoyalty, we crafted one of the best resilient, agile, efficient, and streamlined engineering groups specializing in Transmission and Distribution. Our team grew from 12 to 72 in less than five years, despite the challenges of a pandemic in between. Building such a tight-knit team takes a lot of energy to establish relationships and trust. I was able to get close to many of them, which made the decision to move on, without knowing exactly where I am headed, incredibly tough. The team I leave behind is not just amazing—they are poised to achieve incredible things. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of the engineering team for their hard work, support, transparency, and collaboration. Their #CommitmentToExcellence has been truly inspiring, and I have no doubt that the team will continue to thrive and reach new heights. Now, it’s time for me to close this chapter and explore new horizons to see how much higher and how quickly I can raise my bar. Like free agency.. The coming weeks should be interesting with lots of options—just figuring out where to grow next. #FeelingFortunate #AlwaysRespect #NewChallenges #TimelyStrategicSpecificDirectCommunication ✨

We engineers often run into roadblocks while solving problems. Different approaches, innovation, new design /technology... they may all lead us to dead-ends, if the problem is hard enough. What do we do? Just apply common sense. Just forget how intelligent engineers we are, leave the engineering plane and solve the problem in the business plane like a smart business individual does and just port it back to the engineering plane. That is how the domain knowledge takes our engineering skills to the next level.

How We Helped a Leading Company Boost Their Mobile Engineering Team’s Efficiency by 50% The Problem We recently partnered with a leading company to enhance the efficiency of their mobile engineering team. They faced challenges with low-prepared tasks causing delays and inefficiencies. Solution To address this, we introduced a layer of meetings dedicated to the preparation and verification of all resources and acceptance criteria. This ensured that team members had everything they needed before starting their tasks, minimizing the need for constant clarification and interruptions. Results As a result, we achieved a 50% increase in the team’s efficiency, allowing them to deliver high-quality work faster and more consistently. Testimonial "Implementing these preparatory meetings significantly streamlined our workflow, allowing our team to focus more on development and less on administrative hurdles." If you're facing similar challenges and want to boost your team's efficiency, reach out to us for a consultation!

As part of our recent Human-Centric Engineering work, Simon Holmes and I tried to come up with a checklist for what it means to be a Team-First engineering organisation. What would you add to this list? We were advising a department which was transitioning to a #TeamTopologies organisational design, applying the 'reverse Conway manoeuvre' by considering Conway's Law when structuring teams and the communications between teams. When seeking a systems architecture based around the principles of high cohesion and loose coupling, it makes sense to structure teams the same way: Teams with high internal cohesion, aligned to a clear purpose and ways of working, along with clear well-controlled minimal interdependencies between teams. Feel free to DM me if you'd like to chat about encouraging a Team-First approach in your organisation.
