As soon as six weeks after soybeans are planted, adult soybean cyst nematode (SCN) can be detected on roots. Gently dig up roots and use a hand lens to look for tiny, white SCN females, which are smaller than nitrogen-fixing nodules. MYTH: Cotton is a thirsty crop. TRUTH: Cotton plants are naturally drought and heat-tolerant and can be grown in regions with limited water supply. Cotton production accounts for only about 3% of all water used for crop production. #agriculture #farming #cotton #plants

🟢For the #cornmarket, in the longer term, there is still an expectation of an abundant #supply, although this depends on favorable weather conditions at key stages of crop development in the Northern Hemisphere. 🟢If corn is doing well in the US, forecasts in the #BlackSea region suggest that parts of Russia and Ukraine will experience drought in the coming weeks, which could mainly affect corn and sunflower crops. 🟢Also, in its monthly report, the EC's crop monitoring service noted the difficult conditions for #crop development in #Europe in May and June, which led to a drop in average #yield to 7.55 mt/ha, which however remains 3% above the average of the last five years – 7.35 mt/ha. ✅ Read more on our official website - link in the comments ✅ Subscribe today and stay tuned for more grain market updates! 📲 +40 711 901 993 / +40 711 931 704, or 📨 office@agriportal.ro

We are receiving nice rains in the northern, central and eastern regions of South Africa. This is an ideal time to improve soil moisture so farmers can get on with the 2024-25 summer crop planting process. I am even more upbeat after looking at the weather forecast for the next two weeks, which shows prospects of frequent rains – see the coloured parts of the South African map. This is great for agriculture. We are emerging from a tough season of mid-summer drought, and the season ahead promises to be a recovery period.
