Today marks a month since I started reading There’s No Planet B—and it’s changed how I think about sustainability. 📚 One key takeaway is that while individual actions matter, systemic change is essential. Whether through policy, innovation, or collaboration, we need to think bigger and act faster. As I reflect on this, I’m doubling down on Ikonomo’s mission to disrupt the housing market with sustainable solutions. What’s a book or idea that’s shifted your perspective recently? Let’s swap recommendations! #theresnoplanetB #housing #sustainability

A great first step towards sustainable choices is understanding the concept itself. Sustainability essentially means meeting our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. This applies to environmental, social, and economic aspects. Here's how to approach figuring out the sustainable option: 1. Define the situation: Identify the area where you're looking for a sustainable option. Is it a product you want to buy, a mode of transportation to choose, or a lifestyle habit to adopt? 2. Consider the lifecycle: Think about the entire lifespan of the option - from how it's made or sourced, the resources it uses, any waste it generates, and its overall impact. 3. Evaluate the three pillars: Ask yourself - is this option environmentally sound? Does it contribute to social well-being (fair labor practices, community development)? Is it economically viable in the long run? #sustainableliving #sustainability #ecofriendly

🌱 Promoting Sustainable Behaviours for a Successful Sustainability Transition 🌱 A successful transition towards a more sustainable society requires more than the provision of new and innovative technologies —it requires a change in human perception, behaviour, and lifestyle. 🚶♂️In the Energy Behaviour team, we assess predictors of environmentally relevant behaviour and its underlying mechanisms and develop effective, socially accepted interventions for promoting sustainable behaviours and lifestyles. These findings guide policymakers, property operators, developers, and NGOs in their sustainability efforts. 🔍 Our research covers a wide range of sustainability-relevant behaviours—from sufficiency and efficiency to technology adoption and policy support—related to different domains (housing/energy, mobility, food) and contexts (everyday life, work, leisure). Focusing on individuals, households, and middle actors (e.g., cooperatives, administrations, municipalities), we apply a living lab approach to co-create successful, targeted solutions to promote sustainable behaviour. ✨🌍Let's pave the way for more sustainable lifestyles! 🌍✨ #Sustainability #EnergyBehaviour #SmartCities #SustainabilityTransition #ClimateAction #SocialInnovation #GreenFuture #Sufficiency #EnergyEfficiency #SustainableLifestyles #TechnologyAcceptance

Sustainability isn't a proprietary concept; it's a shared mission. Sustainability is all about building a collaborative community and continuous learning of best practices. #Inclusivity in thought is the first step, as sustainability is not the domain of only specialists but a #communion being built. We must ensure our initiatives welcome diverse ideas, voices, use simple language that's relatable to all, and recognize the larger cause to chart the dynamic journey. For example- energy conservation is a very important metric in the pursuit of creating a sustainable world. But it can never be just one person or one department’s prerogative. #Agility and fresh perspectives are key inputs from all, and consistent upgradation is mandatory. It's crucial to self-reflect on: Are we doing enough? How can we make sustainability more inclusive and accessible? The focus is on addressing sustainability together as a community because it’s a "we" problem, not a "me" problem! 🤝 #SustainabilityForAll #SharedMission #InclusiveSustainability #CollaborativeFuture #CommunityForChange #AgileSustainability #EnergyForAll #CollectiveImpact #SustainabilityJourney #TogetherForThePlanet

Part of the confusion and inaction surrounding sustainability must be coming from it’s broad scope. It is a highly complex task to be thinking about the well-being of humans, the stability of businesses, the betterment of communities, the preservation of resources and regeneration of the ecosystem. What to do, how to grasp all this by staying practical? The answer Veronika Petrova found for herself requires a mindset shift and rests upon the interconnectedness of humans and nature: 1. Embrace diversity and accept radical collaboration: Just as ecosystems thrive on a variety of species, our solutions to sustainability should draw from a diverse range of perspectives. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, industries, and perspectives, we open the door to innovative solutions. This diversity of thought and experience is crucial in tackling complex environmental challenges. By fostering a culture of radical collaboration, we can co-create strategies that are more comprehensive and effective. 🤜 🤛 2. Keep the human in the center while looking for holistic solutions: Understand that human well-being and environmental health are deeply linked. Solutions should aim to protect the environment while also enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities. This dual focus ensures that sustainability efforts are both impactful and inclusive for all species. 🌱 3. Develop solutions that are sustainable and circular by design: Sustainability should be woven into the fabric of our solutions from the outset. It’s essential to move away from the traditional linear economy of 'take, make, dispose' and towards a circular economy. This involves creating products and systems that minimize waste, make efficient use of resources, and can be regenerated or reused. Circular design principles help us build a future where resources are kept in use for as long as possible, reducing environmental impact and promoting a healthier ecosystem benefiting both the environment and society. ♻ By following these principles, we can create a sustainable future where the well-being of both humans and the environment is at the forefront of our efforts. Let's co-create this future together. 🌿 #launchlabsSofia #sustainability #holisticsolutions #circulardesign #radicalcollaboration
