November 17 🗓️ On this date in 1914, the first Odfjell-owned company was formally registered: the AS DS Birk. 110 years later, we’re in one of the strongest performing years of all time, our ships are more energy-efficient than ever, and we have a team of 2300 colleagues at sea and ashore, working together to serve our 600+ customers worldwide. One of the most important factors in the company's growth was the introduction of vessels with stainless steel tanks, equipped to carry the numerous chemicals needed to produce modern, everyday items. Dan Odfjell, the company's third-generation CEO, is one of the pioneers of this specialized niche, the foundation of our company to this day. In his 86th year, he recently sat down with Professor Stig Tenold and shared some of the highlights from his years at the helm of Odfjell. "To succeed, you have to have a goal, and you have to have a good competitor. It keeps you on your toes," he said, reminiscing about the early years in the chemical tanker trade. "And, you have to give confidence to gain confidence." Watch the 30-minute interview:
