Facing Challenges Head-On: Employee Retention in the Restaurant Business In the fast-paced and dynamic restaurant industry, retaining talented employees is one of the more nuanced challenges we encounter. At FatBoys and Holi, I'm proud to say we've been able to maintain a team that's been with us since day one. And I confidently believe they will stay as long as we're in business. But how have we accomplished this? Adding Value and Building Connections - Understanding the work behavior of our team members - Knowing what our people love to do outside of work - Keeping a personal connection with each team member In my approach to team building, I focus less on skills, knowledge, or past experience. What matters to me is understanding a person's outlook on life, their expectations from their community, and what motivates them. Consistency in these aspects is a huge plus for me. The Hiring Philosophy Skills, knowledge, or experience can be taught, but the right attitude cannot. That's the first thing I look for when bringing someone on board. Our aim is to cultivate a culture where everyone feels at home. Problem-Solving with Empathy Mistakes are an inevitable part of human life.
