via MiningNews.net Manganese hopeful Black Canyon Limited has delivered a scoping study for the next stage of its plan to develop the Balfour #manganese field in Western Australia, defining what it believes are more significant returns. Based on the KR1 and KR2 deposits, #BCA has outlined a A$84 million development that should generate annual cash flow of $46 million, giving a payback under two years of the 16-year life. The metrics deliver a pre-tax net present value of $340 million and a 70% internal rate of return, with life of mine revenue at $2.8 billion and earnings of $654 million. This morning we released our December quarter results to the market. Commenting on the results, Managing Director & CEO, Peter Albert, said: “The significant quarter-on-quarter increase in metal production and continued improvement in development rates at Golden Grove shows the benefits of the Xantho Extended debottlenecking projects completed through 2023. As Golden Grove’s highest grade ore source, the progressive ramp-up of Xantho Extended will be a key performance driver for the asset over 2024 and beyond. "At Capricorn Copper, the declarations conferred by the Queensland Government during the quarter are a strong show of support for the full recovery of operations following the extreme weather event in March 2023 and the long-term future of the site. We are pleased today to announce that our 100% owned Australian subsidiary, Taronga Mines Pty Ltd has acquired an additional Exploration Licence (EL 9200) that consolidates our landholdings in the Taronga district, and has extended and closed off the soil anomaly at nearby Pound Flat. The region around Taronga is well mineralised with tin and has historically produced over 83,000t tin in concentrate between 1872 and 1984, and the Taronga deposit has a measured, indicated and inferred resource base of 138,000t tin. Our CEO Bill Scotting commented: “The acquisition of EL 9200 provides First Tin with access to the deep leads, a major part of the previous production profile in the Emmaville district. Historically the grade mined was very high and therefore could form a target for high grade supplementary feed for any processing plant established at Taronga, approximately 7km away by existing roads. The final soil sampling results for Pound Flat appear to have extended the target slightly and to have now closed off the anomaly. The close agreement between known mineralisation and the soil anomaly once again shows the importance of soil sampling as a regional exploration tool.
