Robots operating in silos… If there has ever been an opportunity to stress the importance of a symbiotic system of systems approach this would be in my top 4 alongside: 1. Toyota pulls self-driving e-palettes from Paralympic’s following crash 2. The slow collapse of Amazons drone delivery system 3. U.S probing fatal Tesla crash that killed pedestrian In the video we see two robots, from the same company trying to pass each other with no local communication across robots, neither is aware of each other other than being an obstacle or object. This scenario vividly reminds me of the classic Aesop’s fables short story of two goats crossing a narrow bridge, whereby in the first part of the story both the goats fall into the bridge locking horns and in the second part , two other goats resolve the conflict and give in. Robots of different make and softwares often fail to realise the presence of other robot’s carrying out similar tasks in the same environment, despite the existence of fleet management servers setup privately they fail to communicate valuable information to prioritise and negotiate tasks on a global level of various industrial robots. These scenarios further presses on the need to have a middleware like RMF, which efficiently communicate needs and tasks to other robots and consider crucial factors like task priority, battery level and package fragility of other robots. In the present generation of GPT based softwares, I wish every robot develops a personality or a persona based on the work they perform, for example medical robots persona will be always to put their tasks at top priority and other robot personas understand that importance and “pause” their tasks in respect to allow the Doc-Robots to perform their tasks at ease. Logistic robots negotiate their telemetry and battery levels with each other to effectively work in the environment. The common objective to be noted is that robots speak and communicate with each other and personify themselves and effectively work together to make human lives better.

I see an easy fix for situations like this using telecommunications, v2v + v2x, Well actually 2 possible solutions, Problem scenario: robot detects unstructured environment Solution 1: simple, queue remote operator for manual override. ML for future incidents Solution 2: The dedicated network infrastructure should have bubbles of data based on rated incidents, those incidents are indexed for solution mapping, High incident location? Stored for later use Proven corrected incident location: Queue Catastrophic forgetting response Maybe starlink take over this arena? Starlink could potentially be a good network provider for delivery robots, especially in areas where traditional internet infrastructure is limited or unreliable. Starlink's satellite-based internet service offers global coverage and promises high-speed internet access with low latency, which could be beneficial for real-time communication and navigation tasks required by delivery robots. #starlink #spacex #starshiptechnologies
