We've had comments over the last week or so, saying "we'd love to get involved with what you're doing but we don't do domestic', but WikiBuild is not restricted to households or extensions; we cover the full range of construction, repairing, renovating and upgrading of any type of structure that people live in, including ecclesiastical structures. You might question, sure this isn't domestic? And you'd be partly right.... BUT when we've fantastic articles about how to re-point a solid brick structure; this advice is the same for a terraced house, as it would be for an old Mill building. How to treat woodworm in a castle is the same as you would in a semi-D. Thanks for all who have been in contact to date, it's very humbling to hear from the industry that what we are doing is fantastic and they want to get involved in any way they can. Every little bit of support helps us reach our goals, regardless how small that is. We are going to full launch in October, so feel free to go to WikiBuild.com and sign up today for your free profile. If anyone is interested in composing an article of advice, please feel free to email me directly here or at damian@WikiBuild.com Thank you! 😍 #giveashitfactor #free #impartialadvice #getintouchtogetonboard #architecture #constructionadvice #guidance #domesticconstruction #renovation #selfbuild #homerepairs #heritagebuild #homeowner #HomeConstruction #ResidentialBuilding #CustomHomes #HomeRenovation #BuildingDreams Mark Cuban #ConstructionSolutions #HouseBuilders #ResidentialConstruction #HomeImprovement #ConstructionInnovation #SustainableBuilding #NewHomeConstruction #ConstructionTrends #HomeBuildingTips #ConstructionCommunity #proptech #contech

Since the master brickmakers, the Romans, conquered Britain 2,000 years ago, many buildings across the UK have traditionally been constructed of brick. In AD 410, following the end of Roman rule, the production of handmade bricks in England ceased. Then, in the Middle Ages, there was a resurgence of using brick as a building material. This led to many magnificent buildings being created of brick throughout the country, many of which still stand today. Examples of striking brick buildings and structures that have survived hundreds of years thanks to brick being a sustainable and lasting building material include Hampton Court Palace, Decker Mill in Manchester and Ouse Valley Railway Viaduct. #Brickwork #Bricks #Build #Architecture #Contractor #BrickworkContractor #Construction #Bricklayer #Bricklayers #ConstructionNorthWest #NorthWestConstruction

Milwaukee’s 25-story Ascent MKE apartment used “mass timber,” a trendy construction tech in which regular pieces of wood are attached through a lamination process to create bigger, stronger beams and panels. We’ve covered mass timber before, but the highlights are: It’s just as strong and (somehow) about as fire-resistant as steel and concrete. It results in fewer CO2 emissions than other materials. And, not for nothing, there are aesthetic benefits and a fun novelty factor — your friends will ooh and aah if you show off a skyscraper made of wood. Ascent is currently the world’s tallest mass timber building, but it can get splintered for all we care, because Milwaukee is already planning to build an even taller one. https://lnkd.in/gR92Qz6Q

Grading and how it works, Ever heard of somebody referring to an old building being a “Grade-A building”? Here’s a simplified rundown of what it all means, 🔸 Grade A -Buildings of special architectural or historic interest which are outstanding examples of a particular period, style or building type. 🔸 Grade B - Buildings of special architectural or historic interest which are major examples of a particular period, style or building type. 🔸Grade C - Buildings of local importance, lesser examples of any period, style, or building type, as originally constructed or altered. New world's tallest timber skyscraper planned for the USA. The timber tower will consist of 55 floors, making it the tallest mass timber skyscraper in the world. This remarkably ambitious proposal in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, looks set to take timber to new heights. Designed by MGA | Michael Green Architecture, a leader in modern timber construction, this project will become the world's tallest timber skyscraper once complete. While the exact height of the skyscraper is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to surpass the current tallest all-timber building, the 85.4 meters (280 ft) Mjøstårnet in Norway. Given the height, it's likely that some concrete reinforcement will be incorporated for stability. Many people get concerned at the thought of a wooden skyscraper, imagining it will be some sort of tinderbox that will ignite with a misplaced cigarette or kitchen fire. However, modern mass timber (such as glulam and cross-laminated timber) isn't like traditional lumber. Instead, it's manufactured in factories and consists of many layers of wood glued together to form a much stronger wooden beam that can even perform better in fire than steel due to the way it chars rather than fully igniting.
