💰 We raised $2.5M to do the impossible. Earlier this year, despite the widely shared sentiment that it can't be done, we raised funds to chase the holy grail of VR gaming. What everyone else (reasonably) avoided, we dove into head-first like we had no choice. ➡️ Physics-based — multiplayer — VR combat Today, I'm happy to share that we succeeded! "Battlegrounds" is our new free-to-play VR game that successfully enables real-time physics-based combat between players. We're in closed alpha with 1,600+ testers and already seeing early indicators of how powerful the experience is: - Avg. time spent per user in the last 28 days: ~70 Minutes - Longest organic group session: 5 Hours - High retention: 60% (Day 1) — 30% (Day 7) - Low churn: <2% What I'm especially excited about are the unprompted social behaviours we've seen emerge within the community, like players forming their own clans with try-outs and regular multi-hour sessions. All of this was made possible by our exceptionally talented team, many of whom have been working with us in the VR combat genre for years! We're all eager to share our continued progress as we venture deeper into these uncharted waters. Battlegrounds will launch into open Early Access in Q1-2025 on the Meta Quest and Steam!
