When data scientists know the 'why' behind their work, they unlock the power to drive purposeful innovation. But it's a two-way street - organizations must also understand why they need data scientists in the first place. It's not just about keeping up with the trend or checking a box because 'everyone's doing it.' Managers must be clear about what problems they need data scientists to solve and how their work aligns with the company's goals. When both sides understand the 'why,' magic happens. Data scientists are empowered to drive meaningful impact, and organizations reap the benefits of informed decision-making. Without this mutual understanding, data science initiatives risk becoming mere window dressing, failing to deliver on their promise.

I love data, and if I never made one penny from it in my entire life I would not care at all. I will never work for someone (for very long) who does not know the value of passion.
