Animal models represent control frameworks designed to study fundamental aspects of biological processes and establish a foundation for treating human diseases. They are so essential to biomedical research; as mimicing such intricate pathophysiological mechanisms is not achievable by novel alternative methods. No matter where you are in your research - from experimental refinement to animal reduction, we've got you covered. #animalmodels #researchscience #researchsolutions

This #WorldCancerDay, we remember the shockingly large number and variety of animals that are used in cancer research year after year despite crucial differences between animals and humans. These experiments are cruel, hold back breakthroughs, and cause suffering to countless animals. At Animal Free Research UK, our scientists and laboratories push the latest animal free technological and research boundaries with cutting-edge technologies which are best placed to discover treatments for human diseases and save precious time and lives. Each project we fund is a step along the road to completely replacing animals in medical research. As well as saving millions of animals from laboratories, animal free research will save human lives. #worldcancerday #animalfreeresearch #kinderscience

Yes, Yes, Yes! But use the SSR => sequential stopping rule (Fitts, 2011)! Plan ahead and decide on forehand: if and when you are moving to your next batch of animals. This to take the interim analysis into account in your sample size! From now on your pilot experiment = first batch and can be incorporated in your analysis! So not mini-experiments, but one staged, well-designed, randomized block design! To read more about the SSR start with this article by #DouglasFitts: https://lnkd.in/eNFTn47x
A study from the University of Münster suggests a new way of designing #AnimalResearch experiments by applying Bayesian statistics, in a way that could reduce animal use by performing several mini-experiments instead of bigger single experiments. Calculating the exact number of animals needed in a research study – the sample size - is usually worked out using historical data, but this can often mean either too many, or too few animals are used, leading to unreliable results. In the article, lead researcher Helene Richter, believes there is increasing evidence that animal sample sizes estimated by researchers are actually too small for any valid conclusions to be made. Animal Cell Structure Animal cells are like tiny factories in animals and humans, building tissues and organs. They have a special part called a nucleus, which is like the boss’s office, holding DNA instructions. This DNA guides the cell’s growth and actions. The cell also has other small parts, each doing a specific job to keep the cell running smoothly. #science #sciencefacts #sciencelover #scienceexperiment #scienceteacher #sciencerocks #backtoschool #animalcell #cell #education #educational #educationalactivities #lifescience #lifesciences #animalcell

🤜💥🤛Arguments Against Animal Research Last week, we covered the limitations of animal studies for predicting toxicity in clinical trials. This week, we want to look at some of the common arguments made against animal research and the counter-arguments. Methodological: 🤜 Against Animal Research Animal models should be abandoned because the scientific methodology of the experiment was poor. 🤛 For Animal Research Poor methodology in some experiments doesn't invalidate all animal research. It's about improving experimental design, not eliminating the entire approach. Historical: 🤜 Against Animal Research Historically, medical dependence on animal modeling is much less robust than we are led to believe. 🤛 For Animal Research Historical use of animal modeling doesn't measure current validity. We need modern scientific knowledge and methodology to evaluate today's animal models. ... For more details, please visit the link below! https://lnkd.in/gyzhqXUK
