Well done to everyone involved
Round of applause for our employee Luke Wagner. Yesterday he saw an oncoming car veer off the road & plunge into a river. Without a second thought he stopped at the scene & assisted with recovering the gentleman. Thankfully the driver was fine despite his vehicle being completely submerged within minutes. Well done Luke, you’re a good guy. Hats off to you 🎩 👏

Today, I'm lucky enough to celebrate another birthday: we've made it to level 33! 32 was a fantastic year: I joined the PureCars team, experienced both personal and professional growth, and achieved so many of the goals I wanted to knock out in the year. There were so many lessons I learned at 32, but here are just a few that stood out: 1.) Recognize and Proactively Fight Burnout: Communicate when you're approaching burnout and work with your team and managers--candid, honest and respectful conversations tend to lead to stronger trust within your teams. 2.) Re-evaluate how you prioritize your to-do's: I had a bit of a process spring cleaning last year: in a world where everything needs to be done 5 minutes ago, revisit what's actually considered an emergency and what can be project-managed out. You'll save your sanity and prevent the dreaded 13/14 hour days. 3.) Don't leave friends and family on the back burner: We've got one life to live, spend it with those who care about you: work smart during the day, so that you can enjoy the quality time with loved ones after. Here's to another year of progress, growth and adventures in The Windy City!

The price of anything speaks of the value Imagine walking into a Mercedes-Benz showroom and hearing the price of the latest car model. The amount is not cheap, but what most likely comes to mind is "this car's value must be worth the price," right?🤔 It's often said that the price paid for something shows the value of that thing. I believe that whatever we intend to get definitely comes with a price, be it attaining a level in our businesses or careers. The more the price paid, the more value we place on it (almost every time, tbh). Although I'm not discussing career or business today, the Easter celebration just clicks in my head—the price that was paid. Three things that come to mind this Easter: -the reason for the celebration, -the price paid, -the value it brings. BTW, they still click in my head.😉 So, beyond the celebration and munching, these three things are worth thinking about. Do have a great Easter celebration.✌️ #eastercelebration

Happy 20th Anniversary to Alex (Alejandro) Martinez! Alex began his career at Accord in the Chicago 940 building as a Finishing Operator, thanks to a referral from his brother who also worked at the company. He recalls that when he started, his department had only seven people, which required him to learn and master everything in his role. We asked him a few questions about his time with Accord Carton. Q. What do you like the most about your job? A. I love what I do and like to think about how my co-workers and I can do a better job. Q. What has kept you at Accord for so long? A. Opportunities to grow. Q. What are you the proudest of at work? A. Working with the team. Q. What superpower would you like to have if you could choose one? A. Help my fellow coworkers figure ways to do things the best.

Find the teachable moment in everything: 🚨Long Read🚨 We took the Olds out for the July 4th car show last week. Our local show is usually about 700 cars, but due to weather concerns it was less than 300. That definitely gave both my wife and I a bit of hope that we'd bring home a Top 75 trophy. Many hours, and many conversations later, we stood in the pouring rain only to find out we did not win. She left upset. I left wet and confused, but content. Afterwards, we had a conversation about the ordeal..and I realized how much it applied to many aspects in life (work, sports, car shows, etc). Always strive to present your best, but are you doing it for the instant gratification of a trophy/award/raise/etc, or are you doing it for the culture/network/relationships? Not 2 days later, a buddy I met through cars who rubs elbows with way more people of importance in the industry came up to buy my neighbors car, because the relationship we built over a decade ago put me in a position to help my friend and help my neighbor. I don't need awards, I want the relationships as they are much more meaningful over time than a trophy that'll get dusty. One more way something as simple as a car can provide such reminders and lessons in life.
