One of our construction partners paid us close to six figures this year to help them find an executive. Wow. Why would anyone pay that much to find someone? I’ll give some context. They are scaling a division of their business from 20M to 100M. They needed the guy who could take them there. He’ll be driving their business to the next level over the next 5-10 years and is already ahead of schedule. Six figure invest for 80-100M worth of revenue. Not a bad ROI.

In 2019, it cost $300 per square foot (psf) to build a typical law firm space in downtown Washington, D.C. Today, the budget for the same space has increased by 50% to over $450 psf. Although the volatility of the pandemic has lessened, critical challenges remain that will affect construction costs indefinitely. Law firms are asking why this is happening and what they can do to manage their construction budgets while achieving the results they need to support their practices. In this informative Q&A, Thomas Fulcher, chair of Savills Legal Tenant Practice Group, sits down with David Fletcher, Executive Director of Project Management, to share insights into the current drivers of construction costs and what strategies can be employed to manage prices and the process effectively: https://lnkd.in/erADB9gU #LegalTenant #WeAreSavills

What do you think to Rachel Reeves speech in house building? 1.5 million homes in 5 years, is that achievable? That means building 821 houses per day for the next 5 years. Not accounting for bank holidays etc. Green belt boundaries to be reviewed so developers can build in what they’re called “grey belt”. Overhaul planning and recruit more planning officers to speed up the process. Also major infrastructure will be decided on a national level. I’m not convinced in all honesty but it all sounds positive so just have to wait and see. Thoughts?

Interesting data point, costs more to build law firm office spaces than some buildings are selling for in NYC.

Projects will come and go. Buildings will go up and come down. But the people? They stick with you. That’s why it’s always people first, project second. Because it’s easy to get wrapped up in deadlines, budgets, and contracts. And forget that real success comes from investing in your team. We’ve learned a lot over the past few decades. And one thing stands out: If you take care of your people, they’ll take care of your projects. Really well. Too many times we see companies pushing their people to the brink. Rushing to cross the finish line at any cost. But what’s the cost of burned-out employees? And what’s the cost of low morale? We’d argue it’s way higher than missing a deadline. When your team feels valued and respected, it shows in the work they deliver. And buildings become a reflection of your culture. So put your people first. And watch everything else fall into place. That’s how Robinson Brothers builds. #robinsonbrothers #construction #commercial

How many times have you spent hours estimating, only to find out the client can not afford the build? We expect builders and architects to calculate the construction budget prior to the client spending money on consultants and additional fees, saving you money and time.
