Who’s ready to celebrate Labor Day? Today, at University Volkswagen Mazda, we’re tipping our hard hats to all the incredible workers who helped build this country, especially those fearless souls who worked high above the city skylines in the 1930s! 🚧👷♂️ From the steel beams of New York City skyscrapers to the concrete foundations of iconic bridges, these workers literally laid the groundwork for the modern world we know today. Can you imagine having your lunch break hundreds of feet above the ground? Talk about a view! Fun Facts: • The iconic photo "Lunch Atop a Skyscraper" was taken in 1932 and features 11 men casually having lunch on a steel beam 840 feet above the ground. • During the Great Depression, construction was one of the few industries that offered jobs, leading many brave souls to take on the risky work of building skyscrapers. • Safety gear was minimal to none at the time—no harnesses or helmets, just nerves of steel! • New York City alone saw over 40 skyscrapers constructed in the 1930s, transforming its skyline into what we see today. Join us in celebrating the strength, courage, and hard work of all laborers, past and present. Share a photo or story of the most challenging job you've ever had! Question: What’s the most daring or challenging job you've ever done? We’d love to hear your stories! #UniversityVW #LaborDay #HardWork #BuiltThisCity #SkyscraperLegends #1930sConstruction #AmericanWorkers #AI #videoreals #CommunityPride #VolkswagenMazda Video Reals Volkswagen Volkswagen of America, Inc Volkswagen Group

My take on the recent split between the Outdoor Industry Association and Outdoor Retailer and the closure of Camber Outdoors. Our industry is going through an evolution that contains both progress and challenges. What I find positive about this shift is that Camber Outdoors has been championing diversity and inclusive hiring practices for nearly three decades, embedding them into our industry's DNA. Over the last 14 years, Highline's customers have increased their diversity hiring requirements yearly. OIA has diversified and proven its adaptability in creating new revenue streams despite losing income from trade show royalties. This looks promising for the organization's future resilience in a rapidly changing market. I wish them a smooth transition to maintain industry influence and continue their vital support functions. My concern is that Camber's closure creates a void in coordinated DEI efforts. The industry must now collectively ensure that this momentum isn't lost. This situation can create opportunities for more localized initiatives and/or the expansion of existing programs.

Hirsh Precision is a staple of Colorado Manufacturing. I’ve had the pleasure of working with their great team on multiple projects & experienced first hand how dedicated they are to making high quality, precision products for their many customers. It’s been cool to see the company grow as much as it has, while maintaining a culture that truly feels like a big family. Great company. Great people. #surfaceprep #metalfinishing #machinistlife #carbide #metalwork #solidworks #technology #cuttingtools #cad #industrial #engineer #cnctools #machinetools #jobshop #engineering #mechanicalengineering #STEM #TechTrends #innovation #manufacturing #AerospaceEngineering
It's been just over a year since we moved into our new headquarters, and what a year it has been! To celebrate, let's resurface this video of our relocation 🎉 This video doesn't come close to capturing the monumental, months-long effort our team put forward to renovate the space, plan the phases of our move, and relocate all operations from Boulder to Frederick. To say they went and continue to go above and beyond is an understatement, but we'll state it anyway. Congrats and happy one-year anniversary in our new home, team! https://hubs.ly/Q02DV0zb0 #CNCmachining #advancedmanufacturing #medicaldevicemanufacturing #USmanufacturing #teamappreciation

Happy Holidays from the Yugo Greenville Uptown and Yugo Greenville Campus Towers Family: Managing both a luxury and an essential property comes with unique challenges, but one thing remains constant: my commitment to exceptional customer service, resident satisfaction, and building relationships. At our luxury property, it’s about refined touches and elevated experiences. At our essential property, it’s about reliability, efficiency, and trust. Yet, in both spaces, one truth holds—people matter most. Whether it’s remembering a resident’s name, addressing concerns quickly, or fostering trust through clear communication, great service transcends property type. Excellence isn’t about the amenities; it’s about the relationships we build and the trust we earn…and we are doing it as a cohesive team!!

"The building we walked into was a sparkling vision from another time and place. Thanks to Ford Motor Co. CEO Bill Ford and his 2018 pledge to turn the station and environs into a high-tech research campus — they called it an “innovation center” — Michigan Central has become a faithful version of its 1913 self, one that transcends just about any adjective. Every surface, every square foot, every pane of glass has been either restored or replicated in amazing detail, a level of historic preservation possible only because Ford and his company were willing to spend just short of $1 billion on the place." "The station Detroit embraces is significant for a number of reasons, starting with the sheer scale of the renovation. As I reported for Trains, “It’s hard to imagine another major American railroad terminal that had fallen as far into disrepair as Michigan Central, only to come back better than ever.” The lengths Ford has gone to get it “right” is amazing, from reopening a quarry in southern Indiana to retrieve the same limestone the railroad used in 1913, to the restoration of tens of thousands of Guastavino tiles arrayed across the arched vaults high above the waiting room. Every little decorative element, every vast stretch of marble floor has received the same attention." "Then there is Michigan Central’s complicated place in architectural history and its relationship to the company that controlled it, New York Central. To design the complex, the railroad hired two of the era’s blue-chip New York firms: Reed & Stem and Warren & Wetmore. Reed & Stem, originally based in St. Paul, Minn., was the principal firm for NYC’s Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, and Warren & Wetmore designed a number of famous hotels as well as the landmark NYC Building at the foot of Park Avenue." #buildings #historicpreservation #buildingrestoration #architecture #railroads #railwaystations #buildingtransformation #innovation #michigancentralstation #detroitmichigan
