I bought $63,936 worth of Hello Kitty snack boxes. It's a better investment than real estate. Most people probably think I'm crazy, and that's ok. But most people don't realize the demand for this product on Amazon. Most of the year this product sells for $35. We buy it for $18.50. But this is where it gets interesting. The demand for this product is 5-10x during Q4. Every year for 3 years this is our strategy: • Buy 3-4k units @ $18.50/unit • Hold our price high, letting everyone sell at a 10% margin • Our competitors sell out • We sell 100+ units per day at $54.99 (or higher) We double our money on every sale. 100+ times per day. For 3 weeks straight leading up to Christmas. This one product makes me more profit in December than I made in an entire year at my corporate job. That is the power of Amazon wholesale. 💡 Idea: Amazon should let you schedule a delivery any time in the next 2 weeks when ordering. I can't be the only one "returning" items that were opened on Christmas in one state, just to return, re-order, and ship to another. Myself and many others experience this when living far from our families. One party or another wants to see a gift opened by the recipient, but knows that the gift won't travel well. For me, this was a cast iron pan and baking sheets, aka 10+ lbs to add to my already-stuffed suitcase. So what now? They're getting returned and re-ordered and shipped to my home instead. That isn't good for Amazon, the seller, the shippers, the buyer, the recipient, or the planet, and it seems simple to solve. If I can get an order delivered between 4-8am overnight, why can't I get it delivered ten days later? Until then, perhaps there's even a business model in which a third party intercepts a delivery (assuming Amazon doesn't allow this scheduling) and warehouses it temporarily before delivering it on your specified date. Amazon Saver is going to get the headlines here, but it’s the Prime Discounts that will have the biggest impact. I think the Saver packaging design looks great, for what it is. You can see this from 50 feet away in a store. The sub-$5 price point will have mass appeal and serves an important purpose. Amazon: do the right thing and make these products with a reasonable quality and don't fill them with toxic preservatives and excessive amounts of sugar. Amazon can afford to invest in this and put Walmart on notice if the product is actually healthy and tastes good. …but the Amazon prime deals of 50% off 10-15 blockbuster grocery items every week are the real game changer here, potentially. If these are actually “category killer” items that drive volume, this can have a HUGE impact on retail. Imagine how many people would flood in and buy NY Strip or Salmon at 50% off, along with 50% off Avocados, Ice Cream, and Olive Oil (as an example). Will be interesting to watch. I sold $95.4k on a single SKU on Amazon. Here's the breakdown of all of it's stats, end to end. That's 3,800 units a year. A top 13,000 BSR product. And a sustainable product that works year round. This is what most people are looking for. A year round stable product. This happened to be my first soap I launched. We got it correct on first scent choice. Made a profit of just under $7 a unit. P.S. Some of my later choices fell flat. Be careful with scent/color/size variation expansion. It's often better to launch a brand new product in a new sub category.
