Our Suited for Success team, (including staff, volunteers and trustees), business supporters, and charity partners are gearing up for our two-week 'Give Up to Lift Up' fundraising campaign starting next Monday 11th March. From fasting for 24 hours, ditching the car, and walking to a BBC presenter not talking for two days, and many others on the team taking part too! Between 11th March - March 28th, we are all dedicating a day to giving up something and in doing so putting ourselves partly in the shoes of some of our unemployed clients, especially with the cost of living challenges. We're challenging ourselves to raise £20,000 in sponsorship that will directly support Suited for Success in helping our candidates back into employment. In addition, one of our valued charity partners Culture Recruitment Group are also hosting a fundraising quiz night with clients and local businesses to raise further funds. Would you be willing to forgo meals for 24 hours, skip your daily latte, or choose to walk instead of drive to support someone in finding employment? We'd be over the moon if you joined us! Whether you do something solo, rally your work team, or make a donation to sponsor those taking on the challenge, let's make a difference together. Find the link to our 'Give Up to Lift Up' fundraising page in the comments section below. #giveuptoliftup #fundraiser #suitedforsuccess

Fundraising Consultant | Helping mid-sized nonprofit teams ($1-5MM) communicate their story to donors so they raise more money and have more impact.
“I’m just one more fundraising meeting away from quitting!” “When will the board get it?!” “I can’t just snap my fingers and make people write checks! Fundraising doesn’t work like that!” “The executive director wants to cut our budget to save costs, but also wants a gala?!” - I hate to hear these common frustrations from fellow fundraisers. -Yes, the executives mean well. -Yes, it’s for a good cause. -Yes, people assume fundraising is easier than it is. And yes, it’s ridiculous some of the comments I hear made to fundraisers about how to do their jobs. 👉Seriously, if I had a dollar every time I heard “Can you get us in front of [insert literally any philanthropist you’ve ever heard of here]”, I could personally donate a $1,000,000 to you. Some of the other “swear jar” worthy quotes: ✅You can find the money for that, right? ThAtS wHy wE hIrEd SuCh a GrEaT fUnDrAiSeR!” ✅Get an influencer to talk about us… for free. ✅Just tell people the facts, then they’ll give. ✅Hey, how about a Golf Tournament? ✅Find a foundation to cover this. ✅We just need to go viral! 🥴🥴🥴 Fundraising is a skill. It takes time. It is based on relationships. There are best practices, rules, and art to it. I promise, promise, promise you. Your fundraiser wants to do a good job for your mission. But if your high pressure meeting includes any of the above painful suggestions, it may be time for a reevaluation of your approach. - P.S. Have you heard any of these phrases before? Have you heard any unhinged ideas? I’d love to hear them.💡 #fundraising #nonprofit #nonprofitleadership

Did you start a #nonprofit to pay yourself a salary for your work? 😬 I get it - everyone needs to be able to pay their bills. But also, nonprofits are NOT supposed to personally enrich their founders! If starting a nonprofit to make money is a main priority, a for-profit business could be a beneficial option for you. Fundraising and communications for UK & US non-profits: Trust Fundraising, Campaigns, Websites & more 🚀 | Life & Business Coach 🫱🏼🫲🏾
Where is your advantage? Most weeks I speak to a charity CEO for the first time, and here’s one of the things I’m learning to look for: Their advantage. It’s amazing how often a charity is sat on something that other organisations would LOVE to have and can takes years to get. Things like: 📧 Big mailing list 🫱🏼🫲🏾 Great networks 🎯 Unique positioning 📢 Amazing reputation 🏢 Relationships with corporates 💸 Big capacity donors that aren’t being nurtured But their potential advantage is not being utilised. So the challenge isn't to find some newfangled fundraising silver bullet, but to find, use and eventually maximise the one or two advantages you already have. I share this not because we sell stuff to help you capitalise on these advantages (although we do 😜) but because it might be something worth exploring at your charity, or the one you keep getting asked to help. What you need may be closer than you think! #CharityAdvantage #fundraising #comms

I help nonprofits engage & inspire the right audience I Nonprofit Fundraiser, Marketer & Content Creator
Early in your #nonprofit fundraising career, test out as many roles and types of work as possible. In my early days, I was able to test: ➡ Bike rides/runs & peer-to-peer fundraising ➡ Galas ➡ Corporate engagement ➡ Annual giving ➡ Digital campaigns heavily built on ads I learned quickly that galas and auctions were not my thing 😵 ... but I really liked other areas, like digital messaging! Testing different fundraising areas also makes you a better manager because you really *know* what it's like to do that type of work. 🤔 Were you able to 'try on' different types of fundraising early on to find your fundraising niche? How quickly did you find your niche? __________ #socialsector #thirdsector #charity

Helping nonprofit changemakers to raise, cultivate, and steward MAJOR GIFTS for their causes || Fundraising Professional || International Development Professional 📈
Be proud, you're not begging As often perceived by people who don't know much about fundraising, to believe it is about begging for money but in reality fundraising is all about making the ask. Fundraising is allowing donors to live out their value. Oftentimes, people have asked me for the motivation behind me having to go all out to ask for funds on someone's behalf, sometimes people I know nothing about. I'm always proud to say I am a fundraiser 🤩. And it's very important to build mental and psychological strength behind this knowing, that you're asking a donor to share in something you believe is important. And it is a way to help donors accomplish their philanthropic and personal goals. It's completely normal to feel uncomfortable asking for money. But it's important to remember that asking for donations is not about begging. I had an experience yesterday, of the little phobia of asking, in a way not to look like I'm begging. A friend posted a chat with a friend telling her of how a certain amount in thousands is stopping a boy from participating in his final exams. Immediately I saw this on her status, I was not comfortable and I'd to post it on my status to solicit funds for the child. I've never done this before on my status asking for funds. For the first 10 minutes, I was tempted to bring down the post but I remembered a boy's exam that was at stake. Fortunately, someone from my contact reached out via Dm to send the funds and that was how the fee was settled immediately. It was a winning moment for me, as I thought of the life I was able to help and imagined the joy on the boy's face to be finally writing exams with his colleagues. Fundraising is more of giving an opportunity and providing them with information that allows them to pursue things that are important to them: "things" that can't be bought. It helps people to realize some of their highest aspirations. Fundraising is not just a skill for me, but a calling and life purpose. I derive deep fulfillment from the knowledge that every fund raised contributes to changing lives and igniting hope in others I am Oluwatoyin, I share my expertise on fundraising and Nonprofit Organizations, providing valuable insights and trends in the nonprofit sector. #Nonprofitfundraising #Fundraising

Fundraising is, without a doubt, extremely challenging work. For any of you with experience in this line of work, you will understand what I mean. For the rest of you, go out and volunteer your time with a local non-profit organization. After that, I think you will understand. While this can be a challenging profession, it continues to be quite rewarding in many respects. Fundraising is simply the process of soliciting and gathering donations as money or other means, by requesting contributions from individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, or governmental agencies. Fundraising typically refers to efforts to collect money on behalf of non-profit organizations, and is at times used to refer to the identification and solicitation of investors or other sources of capital for-profit enterprises. #fundraising
