What is Water Hammering in Flushing System ? Water hammer does more than create annoying banging and knocking noises. It can cause leaks and even burst pipes. Through my experience at Media City, Angkasapuri, this has caused a major problem to the building. Rectification must be done to avoid water ponding in the service duct which can be worsened to the lower level. The type of pipe that was used in the building was uPVC. To takcle this issue in the future, other materials such as Electrofusion HDPE pipe should be proposed to replace the existing pipe. This HDPE pipe can withstand greater pressure compared to the uPVC pipe (up to 10 bars).
