Are you finding yourself running around like crazy right now in the peak of summer? July is always a reminder for me to slow down, enjoy the weather and some family time. It is that half way point through the year to check-in and make sure you're spending your time on your intentions instead of running around getting "things" done. Some questions to ask yourself: 1. Where are you at? 2. Are you doing what you want to be doing? 3. Are you taking time to enjoy yourself? In all of my travels and being on the go myself, I make the time to be mindful and ask myself these questions. Finding time to rest can be challenging in our relentless world, especially for those engaged in the nightlife and techno. I've been embracing a transformative sleep routine that's significantly impacted how I feel and perform. Inspired by the insights from "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker, I've adopted a simple nightly ritual: 3-2-1. I stopped eating three hours before bed, drinking two hours before, and turning off all screens one hour before sleep. While I use an Amazon Kindle, it's been a game-changer that helps me wind down without the harsh blue light from phones or computers. As we journey through techno landscapes and prioritize wellness, remember the importance of harmonizing our high-energy pursuits with restorative sleep. Many find it hard to sleep on Christmas eve because the day has been so stressful from running around, tying up loose ends and buying last minute gifts. Here are some tips to help: • Set Realistic Expectations: Remember that it's okay if you don't get a full night's sleep; focus on enjoying the holiday. • Limit Screen Time: We know its tempting to stay up watching Christmas movies but try to power down electronic devices at least an hour before bedtime to reduce exposure to blue light. • Avoid Heavy Meals: We all want to sample that ham, turkey and stuffing but try not to eat any heavy, rich food right before bedtime.
