Schonfeld is still trying to secure the 3 billion in Investments, as reported by Bloomberg, they are actively engaged in discussions with both existing and potential investors. While they haven't finalized a drawdown facility partnership yet, they are committed to the pursuit, with discussions spanning from the fourth quarter of last year into the first quarter of this year. Last year, Schonfeld opted out of a potential partnership with Millennium, confident in securing necessary capital through alternative means such as a proposed drawdown fund, which offers flexibility and strategic advantages. Despite market fluctuations, its performance remains commendable, with its flagship Strategic Partners fund outperforming many peers. Leading global secondaries player Lexington Partners (now owned by Franklin Templeton) continues to raise capital as it has no doubt kept its limited partners satisfied with consistent net returns across decades and market cycles. What I find even more interesting is that Lexington Partners have team members who are focusing on the venture and venture growth equity segments of the market for secondaries - I have been seeing various team members attending VC and growth equity manager AGMs. This is something I am not really seeing from the other brand name mega secondaries private markets players. Secondaries in private equity has just been more stable and can absorb larger transactions suitable for larger funds. It will be interesting to see how active Lexington Partners will be in 2024 and beyond in the VC/Growth Equity segment given the distribution-starved limited partners in the VC market. Also, will other mega secondaries start making more significant trades in the VC segment? Will LPs even choose to sell given the large disparity in pricing that pervades across the marketplace?
