Guest-Centricity: A Feeling You Can’t Teach In the world of tourism and hospitality, there’s one quality I believe stands above all else: being truly guest-centric. It’s not something you can teach in a training manual or a checklist, it’s a feeling. It’s the innate ability to step into someone else’s shoes, anticipate their needs, and genuinely care about their experience. I’ve worked with incredible people who embody this. They don’t just solve problems, they create moments. Whether it’s remembering a guest’s name, offering a kind word at the right time, or going the extra mile when no one’s watching, it’s always about making someone feel valued. IN THE TRAVEL, TOURISM, AND HOSPITALITY SECTOR people are not acting their age – retired people are booking adventure vacations and rappelling down the sides of mountains. Young people are choosing to meditate in monasteries. Rich folks are staying in hostels and backpacking, while people of modest means scrimp and save all year for one night in a luxury hotel. But as soon as we stop using age, income, gender, and all those typical labels, and start to see what people value, then it all starts to make sense. When I get hired to speak in this sector, I build a keynote around the specific values that will motivate whoever my audience wants to reach. Because we are all values-driven.
