Many people believe that milk production is harmless and that cows and buffaloes give milk willingly, with farmers simply taking the surplus after feeding the calves. However, the reality is far more troubling. Cows and buffaloes are impregnated artificially every year to ensure continuous milk production. This is not a natural process but one imposed by humans to meet the demand for milk. When the calf is born, he's often separated from his mother to ensure that the majority of the milk can be harvested for human consumption, depriving the calf of his natural nutrition. If the calf were allowed to drink his mother's milk, there would be significantly less available for humans. This system is inherently exploitative, prioritizing human consumption over the natural needs of the animals involved. Understanding this can help us make more informed and compassionate choices about our consumption habits, leading to a reduction in demand for dairy products and encouraging a shift toward plant-based alternatives. A common misconception amongst consumers is that every vegetable should be stored in the fridge. And while that is true for a lot of our favorite sources of vitamins, the fridge is not the place to be for all crops. We’ve created a list of some of the most popular vegetables and fruit vegetables that actually like the cold. In the near future we’ll show you what vegetables stay fresh longer when kept at room temperature. #BASF #VegetablesPeopleLove #HealthyEating

Ever wondered who started the cultivation and farming of vegetables and fruits? We only have a vague idea about the start of cultivation. We know we used to forage for nuts and fruits. During that time, our ancestors observed that the seeds they threw away created new plants. The understanding that we could manipulate plant growth was perhaps one of the greatest discoveries of the ancient world. Initially, farming was a concept associated with grains and cereals. However, the practice soon expanded to include fruits and vegetables as well. Fruits and vegetables are good sources of necessary vitamins and minerals. There are records of Romans using greenhouses to cultivate vegetables and fruits. The vegetables and fruits available nowadays are different from their ancient counterparts. Selective breeding for nutrition and edible quantity changed the shape, color, and even the taste for the better. #ConklinCompanyInc #Lifetrack #healthiswealth #healthandwellness #healthybody #healthandfitness #healthbenefits #healthier #wellnessthatworks #healthyactivelifestyle #healthyandhappy #healthfirst #healthlife #healthlifestyle #nutritional #nutritionplan #nutritioniskey #healthandhappiness #wellnesslifestyle #wellnessfitness #nutritionable #nutritionmatters #healthliving #healthtalk #wellnesslife #wellnesswins

Umami gives farmers 3-500g/pig extra at weaning! Most pig farmers suffer from the weaning dip and Orextrol offers the solution to increasing both water and feed intake at weaning. Place the attractive soluble umami in the feeder and the weaners are attracted to both drink and eat. A healthy appetite reduces an empty gut and fewer problems in the flatdeck and grower phase. Even some sows off their feed can have their appetite enticed back with a couple of treatments with Orextrol. The video shows the use of Orextrol from NUVAN which offers a way to give umami via water. The piglets given the product during the first week of life are all suckling vigorously. Many farms have experienced an increase of 3-500g per piglet at weaning, just through giving Orextrol during the first week of life. This costs less than €0,10 per piglet. With an increased feed intake comes an increased water intake and improved hydration. Generally, a 50% increase in water intake is seen. A large scale trial conducted on a high performance unit in Ireland showed a reduction in mortality of the smallest pigs, down from 19.9% to 14.5% and an increase in weaning weight from 6.3kg to 6.8kg. Where could you benefit from increasing appetite with Orextrol on your farm? #PigNutrition #Umami #PigHealth #FeedIntake #Piglets

Food Research & Developement Expert & Consultant "Crafting innovative food creations is not just a science, but an art form where every ingredient is a stroke of inspiration."
#know_what_you_consume! In the world of eggs, not all are created equal. The distinction between fertile and unfertile eggs might seem subtle, but it has significant implications for both consumers and those in the agriculture industry. 🔹 Fertile Eggs: These eggs are capable of developing into chicks if incubated under the right conditions. They're often used in the poultry industry for breeding purposes. However, they’re safe to eat and commonly found in some grocery stores. 🔹 Unfertile Eggs: These eggs cannot develop into chicks because they haven't been fertilized by a rooster. The vast majority of eggs sold in supermarkets fall into this category, making them a staple in households worldwide. So, why does this matter? Whether you’re a consumer curious about where your food comes from or a professional in the agricultural sector, understanding the differences can help you make informed decisions. Fertile or unfertile, eggs are a versatile and nutritious part of our diets. But the next time you crack one open, you'll know a bit more about what's inside. #Agriculture #FoodScience #EggProduction #Sustainability #Nutrition

LIFESTYLE SHIFT: Raleigh Farmers Market Trip Recap Microgreens are pictured. The smaller ones are "Inferno Fusion" which includes Broccoli, Kale, Kohlrabi, Arugula, Red Cabbage & Spicy Mustard. The larger ones are Pea Microgreens. From WebMD "Early research has indicated that microgreens contain up to 40% more phytochemicals (beneficial nutrients and components) than their full-grown counterparts. Though these little greens are small in stature, they contain extremely high levels of powerful vitamins, minerals, and health-supporting components." In addition to microgreens, we picked up strawberries, cabbage, onions, radishes, honey sticks, asparagus, kale, two types of lettuce, tomatoes and potatoes. I think that's everything :-) The freshness of the produce compared to the grocery store is amazing and what you get for the money is awesome. The microgreens were not cheap. Brenda and I had a conversation with a guy who sells beef and pork. Although the beef is pasteur raised and grass fed, he mentioned that it is finished with "high quality grain." Brenda asked if it was non-GMO. He said that it's high quality but not non-GMO. We appreciate his honesty. Knowing the questions to ask and what to look for is something we've learned along the 4+ year journey into a major lifestyle change. When is the last time you shopped at the farmers market in your area? _____________________________ I'm David Williams ( age 57 ). #VegetarianDiet is slightly different from the #VeganDiet. Vegetarians abstain from all meat, poultry and fish, but may include dairy aka lacto-vegetarian or eggs aka ovo-vegetarian or both (lacto-ovo vegetarian). Just like the Vegan diet, this diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. It may promote weight loss, reduce the risk of heart disease and even lower blood pressure. These benefits may be similar to the vegan diet, but the vegetarian diet comes with more flexibility. However, it requires a lot of careful planning to ensure adequate protein and iron intake, especially for lacto-vegetarians. Studies show that vegetarians tend to have a lower risk of heart disease than non-vegetarians. #Beyondthetable: It promotes plant-based agriculture hence reducing the environmental impact attributed to animal farming.
