Exciting news! My first scientific paper has been published: "Evaluating Anxiety and Self-Confidence in Nursing Students: Adaptation and Validation of the NASC-CDM Scale for High-Fidelity Simulation Training" This milestone in my PhD journey was made possible through collaboration with Krista White and my promoters Deborah Hilderson, Erik Franck and Filip Haegdorens. The next challenge: transforming the longitudinal research results on anxiety and self-confidence in nursing students during clinical decision-making in high-fidelity simulation training into the next published paper. Working through my methodology for my PhD thesis contemplating the best methodology to use. I found an approach called two eye seeing which has the ability to see our indigenous ways with one eye and to see the strengths of a western approach with the other fixed on indigenous ways of knowing. I suppose this is like how I view Māori nurses and Māori practitioners when we say we are walking in two worlds as we continuously interweave between Māori and Western approaches to wellbeing. Has anyone use this approach or has read any literature following this perspective as a research methodology?

It was such a pleasure to hear Elaine and Art Aron talking about their 30 years of research into high sensitivity at the 2nd International Conference on Sensitivity Research hosted by University of Surrey yesterday. Elaine also shared her latest research which is currently under review and looks at the reasons behind the confusion about the trait of high sensitivity which include: 1. The 'pause and review' survival strategy in highly sensitive people is not easily observed. 2. The scale for identifying HSP is outdated. 3. The presence of differential susceptibility in HSPs (the fact they do worse in adverse conditions but thrive more in supportive environments). 4. The HSPs who are more visible are less typical of the majority of HSPs and usually more stressed. 5. HSPs can also be extraverted and high sensation seekers. 6. Half of HSPs are men but are much less visible. There were some encouraging new research developments presented looking at high sensitivity in school children and discussion around the measurement of sensitivity. (I've a bit of catching up to do as I had to collect my children halfway through!)
