Yikes... With this great amount of responsibility, I would sure hope that we would be advocating AND acting to provide vast improvements for students, teachers, and administrators within the public education system. As is, I wouldn't describe the system as "high-quality" when there is SO much discrepancy based on where you live. When students are falling behind, teachers are burning out, and immense pressure is placed on administrators to "make things work". Does that sound like "high-quality" to you? Maybe I'm mistaken... But, when does it actually become about the people within? The actions, resources, and decisions to help them? Sounds like a lot of empty claims here... I hope one day this can be true, but there is absolutely no way that this is the current reality for all schools within the US. Yes, I know there are great schools out there, doing amazing things, with all the resources they need to facilitate their spectacular programs, but we are delusional if we believe that is the norm. Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) is an extremely important piece in filling workforce gaps, which is everything from English language acquisition, high school equivalency attainment, and skills training completion, and so much more. In a nutshell, AEL programs (most notably those who work in these programs) help people change their lives, and they fill workforce needs. Check out how Laredo College is fulfilling this mission!

‘Let us learn: Systemic inquiry into the educational experiences of children and young people in out-of-home care’, examined the educational experiences of children and young people in out-of-home care, including the factors that affect their educational outcomes and ability to stay engaged in education. Here at The MacKillop Institute, we’re proud of our contributions to this important inquiry led by the Commission for Children and Young People Victoria. The report makes 47 recommendations to the Victorian Government to reform these systems to improve educational outcomes. Recommendation #13 advocates for trauma-informed teaching practices to be incorporated into teacher training. Read the full report here https://zurl.co/b1Kb
