Today, March 21, 2024, the Idaho Legislature passed SJM 103 to stop any change to the water transport of crops. https://lnkd.in/gdR9XXG6 https://lnkd.in/gZQR_Y7z The farmers in the Lewiston area are against any effort to restore the Idaho Salmon. In 1947 the Bureau of Reclamation started the process of building 4 dams that has driven the Idaho Salmon to the brink of Extinction. Only 2% of the Sockeye salmon make the 1,600 miles round trip to Redfish Lake. Congressman Simpson convinced President Biden to budget $millions to build infrastructure to make the Lewiston farmers whole when the 4 dams are breached. Nationally there have been 1,500 dams breached when they did more harm than good. The farmers don’t trust the Federal Government it seems, don’t like change, and 4 decades of the John Birch Society ideology. The Idaho Salmon will go extinct and when it happens, they are gone forever. https://lnkd.in/g9ZyUJmh
