It's Research Week at Hawkins\Brown! We're constantly looking for new solutions to old problems, which is why research is so important to our work. 💡 The theme for 2025 is Regenerative Design, following on from our involvement in the inaugural #RegenerativeArchitectureIndex, UK Architects Declare, and many other great initiatives. As we seek to become a more regenerative practice, we're running workshops all week where our teams have the opportunity to share their findings, discuss the next steps, and shape the future of our designs and our practice philosophy. 🌎 Follow along this week to learn more, or head over to our Instagram for a behind-the-scenes look at some of the workshops! #researchweek #designresearch #sustainability #regenerativedesign #ArchitecturalResearch #RegenerativeArchitecture

From bringing the nonhuman world to life through myth to engaging with the wild animals that exist at our cities’ edges and designing multifaceted sensory experiences, this year’s crop of METROPOLIS Future100 architecture and design students are challenging and inspiring us to make room for more meaningful interactions with the larger world around us. Three speculative design projects from Sophie Pacelko, Kirah Cahill, and Jessica Wilsey reorient humanity by suggesting new ways to embrace the interconnectedness of things. https://lnkd.in/eWNqCNm9

For your copy of the RESEARCH BOOK, Email us: architecture.fame.research@gmail.com, Book titled: “Exposing the Barriers in Architecture, from a FAME (Female Architects of Minority Ethnic) Perspective”. Written by the Principal Researcher and founder of FAME collective Tumpa Husna Yasmin Fellows FAME collective’s research acts as tool for ACTIVISM and enables the under-represented voices in architecture to be amplified. Our gratitude to all those who shared their lived-experiences of the barriers in architecture, from a diverse backgrounds. We really hope people engage with the content in the book, to make meaningful changes to remove the barriers in architecture. FAME collective’s research communicates underrepresented voices and the lived-experiences of barriers in architecture. Mapping the pathways to success, how to navigate the barriers and providing valuable recommendations for those experiencing barriers and those in power to make a change. We think this would be a valuable resource for research and thesis writing, for those exploring the themes around architecture and equity, activism etc.. Considering Human Antifragility in the Social-Spatial-Temporal City by Dr Sam Conrad Joyce At DP’s upcoming #DesignFUTURE Conference, Dr Joyce questions how architecture adapts and thrives beyond its initial purpose, challenging us to see architecture not as a solution, but a #catalyst for new opportunities and behaviours. His presentation will delve into methods for capturing and analysing the unplanned activities that arise once buildings and spaces come to life. By leveraging data-driven approaches, he explores how #thoughtfuldesign can transform challenges, such as those posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, into learning experiences that prove the #resiliency and #antifragility of our environments.
