Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join Jennifer Parks on a Habitat for Humanity Chicago (HFHC) neighborhood tour. We explored two neighborhoods, Greater Grand Crossing and West Pullman, that have been significantly impacted by HFHC's initiatives. Serving on the Habitat for Humanity Chicago Board has given me a deeper perspective as it pertains to the impact that the organization has on a quarterly and yearly basis, yet, nothing compares to seeing the tangible outcomes of HFHC’s efforts and discussing its forward-looking vision. This experience left me invigorated and excited about the boundless potential of HFHC. For my contacts in the Chicago area who haven’t yet gotten involved with HFHC, I highly recommend that you consider doing so. HFHC’s strategic neighborhood approach includes four primary components: strengthening the neighborhood housing market, connecting the community, elevating neighborhood appeal, and enhancing the physical environment. These efforts are bolstered by ambitious five-year goals, which include increasing the number of houses built or rehabilitated by fourfold, reaching a total of 100 houses. Additionally, they aim to triple the number of participants in affordable homeownership programs, and double the number of volunteers, aiming for a total of 25,000 over five years. These ambitious initiatives are just the tip of the iceberg, and your involvement could make a significant difference! Get to know our board member Nic Vansyoc on this #BoardMemberMonday! ... How and why did you become involved with United Way? -I learned about United way while volunteering with the Auburn Chamber. I learned about the great things UW does and had the chance to volunteer as a Loaned Executive. What is one word you would use to sum up the United Way's work? -Impactful What is one thing about United Way you think people do not know but should? -That they have both a community fund to help directly, but also support numerous local agencies around the community. What would you say to someone who is considering investing in the United Way? -If someone is interested in supporting all of the communities needs, and not just the best marketed ones, the United Way is probably the best way to have the biggest impact.

Today, the Executive Club team dedicated their time to the Ace of Clubs homeless shelter, embodying the spirit of community and compassion. It's moments like these that remind us of the collective power we hold. Each helping hand, each shared meal, and every moment spent listening to those with lived experiences of homelessness, brings us closer to understanding and action. We believe that if more individuals and organisations took a moment to step into the world of volunteering, the impact on homelessness could be profound. It's not just about one day or one act of service; it's about fostering a continuous commitment to support the most vulnerable in our society. Our aim at the Executive Club goes beyond business success; it's about building a legacy of giving back, creating ripples of change that extend far beyond our immediate circle. Let's use our networks not just for growth, but for goodwill. We're proud of the work done today and inspired to keep this momentum going.
