The Crowdstrike event has inevitably dominated the news (TV and radio, once the former was able to restart broadcasting…) and my LinkedIn feed is about 95% on the same subject. While it will take time for the facts to emerge, I do wonder if this is a watershed moment for the cyber insurance market. Is this the trigger for insurers to create separate products to segregate incidents from systemic events (like this) from the more isolated ransomware or data breach events that the market has previously dealt with? One thing is for certain - the discussions amongst the Baker Tilly US cyber teams when we do our annual predictions later this year will be most interesting…!
