Personal responsibility is at the heart of our culture at Berg - 'Acting as an Owner' is a key piece of our mission and values as an organization. Every day, we walk onto our job sites with one goal in mind – get the job done safely. But even more than that, we feel an unwavering responsibility to one another, our families and friends to make sure we all return home safely. Weekly Safety Calls and daily morning huddles help to keep our team members informed and aligned across our sites. Our Safety Coordinator, Blair, makes her rounds to ensure our crews have the necessary resources to prioritize safety in their tasks. Every individual is empowered to give and receive safety-related feedback. Do we get it right every time? No, but do we make a continuous effort to learn from our mistakes and do better tomorrow? Yes - that's how we evolve, and learn what we can do to improve our safety and training practices. Effective, consistent, and respectful communication is a standard we strive to set from the top down, because at Berg, everyone is a leader when it comes to safety. #ConstructionSafetyWeek #SafetyFirst #PersonalResponsibility #SafetyTalks #Communication #ValueEveryVoice

One benefit of construction safety work is that you run into people you have worked with on past projects. It is one of the rewards.

It's Construction Safety Week, a time when we come together and focus on what truly matters. This year's theme, "Value Every Voice," reminds us that every person on site, from the newest apprentice to the seasoned foreman, has insights that can help keep us all safe. Your Voice Matters Whether it's suggesting a new safety protocol, pointing out a hazard, or sharing best practices, every voice is important. When we listen to each other, we create a stronger, safer work environment. Speak Up, Stay Safe Don't hesitate to speak up if you see something that doesn't look right. A simple comment or question could prevent an accident or even save a life. This week, let's commit to open communication and make safety everyone's responsibility. Join the Conversation Share your safety tips, stories, or shout-outs to colleagues who go the extra mile to keep the site safe. Use the hashtag hashtag #ConstructionSafetyWeek and let's show the world how much we value every voice on the job site. Stay safe, stay vocal, and let's build a culture of safety together! #ConstructionSafetyWeek #ValueEveryVoice #SafetyFirst #OSHA #SafetyStandDown #SafetyCulture #NWSafetyTX

As we observe Construction Safety Week in our construction community, it’s truly an important time to reflect on the evolution of safety standards— from mere rules to fundamental principles that define our culture. As someone who has grown up in the construction industry, I've witnessed firsthand the transformation in how we approach safety. It’s deeply ingrained not just in what we do, but in who we are. At Mortenson, we take pride in our leadership role in fostering a safety culture that empowers every individual on every job site. We believe that everyone has a valuable voice and that we thrive when trust and openness spread throughout our ranks. It's about being willing to listen, learn, and voice new ideas, especially when they contribute to our zero-tolerance policy on compromising safety. Here are some straightforward ways each of us can contribute to sustaining a culture of safety, no matter our role: 🚧 Speak Up: Never hesitate to voice concerns or suggestions regarding safety. If something seems unsafe or if there’s a new method that could enhance safety, bring it forward. Your input is invaluable. 🚧 Stay Informed: Always be aware of the latest safety protocols and participate actively in safety training sessions. Knowledge is not only power—it's protection. 🚧 Look Out for Each Other: Safety is a team effort. Watch out for your teammates' well-being just as you would your own. If you see someone working in an unsafe manner, be proactive and offer a gentle reminder of safe practices. 🚧 Embrace Safety Gear: Always use the proper safety gear for your tasks. This is non-negotiable and a simple way to prevent many types of injuries. 🚧 Lead by Example: Whether you’re on the ground or in management, lead by example. Adhering strictly to safety practices encourages others to follow suit. 🚧 Foster an Open Environment: Encourage a workplace where safety discussions are an integral part of the daily routine, not just a checkbox on a to-do list. Safety isn’t just another responsibility—it's a cornerstone of our community at Mortenson. It’s everyone’s job, and by committing to it, we not only protect ourselves, but we also safeguard our fellow workers and contribute to the overall success of our projects. Together, let’s keep building a safer environment where everyone can perform at their best. Happy Safety Week, friends! #safetyfirstlast&always #dotherightthing #leadblualways

Safety protects lives. This is more than just a saying at NNI. It’s our foundation. Because safety isn't just about wearing hard hats or following protocols. It’s about listening to the people on our job sites. Picture a job site where every suggestion is heard. Where the newest worker can speak up just like a seasoned superintendent. That’s our goal on every job site. Different perspectives make us better and safer. And each voice can point out something others might miss. So, let’s keep the dialogue open. Let’s keep learning from each other. And let’s remember why we prioritize safety. Because safety doesn’t just protect individuals. It protects everyone on a job site. #safetyweek #nniconstruction #construction
