Exciting update: I'm a few weeks into my HBComms journey at Lakehead University, and what a whirlwind it's been! 🎓 As a full-time TELUS team member, a mom to a wonderful one-year-old daughter, and now a student, I'm learning as much about time management as I am about business management. 😅 Some key takeaways so far: 1. Business Management Insights: I'm fascinated by the macro-level view of running an organization. Understanding the high-level ins and outs of business operations is eye-opening and directly applicable to my work at TELUS. 2. Balancing Act: Juggling full-time work, studies, and family life is challenging, but rewarding. My secret weapons? Prioritization, efficient time management, and cherishing those precious moments in between. 3. Personal Growth: This experience is teaching me resilience and the importance of continuous learning. It's amazing how much you can accomplish when you're passionate about your goals! Update: My learning curve at Telenor hit another end point after the adjustments I made three and a half months ago. In May 2024, I was assigned additional responsibilities, including managing a double B2B portfolio with high-priority B2B and B2G clients. The pressure was intense, and my work felt overwhelming. But overcoming that phase was a significant challenge—and a rewarding one. Once I got comfortable with new challenges, my learning curve did not face any upward curve. Here’s how I repositioned my learning curve again in the 10th month: 1. I embraced cross-divisional collaboration. Despite managing double the workload, I am partnering with the Telenor's B2C planning team to work on a project with the Telenor Bank aimed at improving digitalization and enhancing customer payments experience for our major B2B2C clients. This collaboration is broadening my skill set and deepening my understanding of integrated solutions. 2. I have improved my networking capabilities. Over the past month, I have connected with 20+ peers across Telenor from different teams and divisions. Networking has not only opened doors to new opportunities but also provided invaluable support and inspiration from my colleagues. 3. I have started focusing on my work-life balance. Amidst the workload, I prioritize my mental and physical health a lot. I take regular breaks, eat healthy, take a light walk, and utilize personal time to boost my productivity and efficiency. 4. I have started actively participating in company events. Engaging in routine gatherings, trainings, and workshops happening across Telenor has opened up new learning avenues, allowing me to meet fresh faces and gain new perspectives. These interactions have enriched my knowledge and kept me in touch with the latest community trends. 5. I have started prioritizing my client interactions. Meeting new B2B/B2G clients excites me a lot. This new approach has contributed significantly to my professional development and sharpened my understanding of diverse business needs and expectations. By following these steps, I have been able to re-position my learning curve again at Telenor. The support of my leadership especially my line manager has been a huge key to this progress—my team members and fellow colleagues continue to recognize my drive and willingness to take on more challenges and grow further in my career, Alhamdulillah.

DEIB Week: Not a One-Off Event But a Year-Round Commitment This week was DEIB Week at DHL and DHL Consulting. We held a series of enriching activities and discussions making it a great opportunity to pause, reflect, celebrate, and gain renewed energy to drive our DEIB initiatives forward. But it doesn't end there.   While designated weeks like DEIB Week are crucial for raising awareness and sparking important conversations, it is vital to remember that Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are not just initiatives to be spotlighted intermittently. They are foundational principles that must be woven into the fabric of our daily operations and organizational culture.   Here’s why year-round dedication to DEIB is essential:   Sustained Progress: Real change takes time. Continuous efforts ensure that DEIB goals are not merely aspirational but are systematically pursued and achieved. Regular training, policy reviews, and engagement activities keep the momentum going.   Inclusive Culture: Building a truly inclusive environment is an ongoing process. It requires constant nurturing to ensure that all team members feel valued, heard, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work every day.   Innovation and Growth: Diverse teams bring varied perspectives that drive innovation and creative problem-solving. A commitment to DEIB fosters an environment where new ideas can flourish, contributing to the overall growth and success of the organization.   Accountability and Transparency: Regular evaluation and reporting on DEIB initiatives help maintain accountability. It’s important to continuously measure our progress, identify areas for improvement, and transparently share these findings with all stakeholders.   Attracting and Retaining Talent: Top talent seeks workplaces that reflect their values. Demonstrating a genuine, ongoing commitment to DEIB helps attract diverse talent and reduces turnover by ensuring that employees feel respected and included.   I'm glad we took this week to renew our commitment to DEIB and carry the momentum forward throughout the rest of the year and beyond!
