🏌️♂️⛳ Whilst taking part in The Agency Group. inaugural Open House Scramble golf day, a fundraiser for Rainbow Trust Children's Charity where we raised over £8,000, I had fun with the other agents comparing golf and the property industry. Here's the lowdown on how hitting the green and closing deals share more than a few similarities: 1. Precision and Skill: Swingin' your club or nailing a negotiation - both demand serious skill and finesse. 2. All the above capture the same theme, that focus on lots of small events can amount to a bigger achievement. An analogy that is particularly pertinent in the agency landscape. It's easy to get caught in the trap, only shouting about the larger deals, but most independent advisories are built on smaller, quicker (where have the quick ones gone? 😫), bedrock. The early months of 2024 for Strettons Commercial Agency have shown promise for the year to come, as well keeping our faith in the commercial SME market. It's great to see these enterprises grow and to see familiar faces return time and again from engagements of years past. So far in 24 we've seen: 🏫 N Family Club continue expansion in London with their acquisition in Leytonstone, bringing them to 37 clubs nationwide. 📖 Artwords Bookshop acquire their 3rd site, growing their reach across the East of the City. 🆘 Charity, St. Joseph's Hospice committing to another shop, with takes them to a total of 4. 💈 Rocket Barbers (who I first encountered 10 years ago in 2014!) also growing their coverage, acquiring a 9th trading position in London. This is also an opportunity for me to introduce Jamie Smith, whose hard work has helped with all of the above. In an article .... “Most consumers (59%) think that being active in the local chamber of commerce is an effective business strategy overall. It is 29% more effective, however, for communicating to consumers that a company uses good business practices and 26% more effective for communicating that a business is reputable. If a company shows that it is highly involved in its local chamber (e.g., sits on the chamber board), consumers are 12% more likely to think that its products stack up better against its competition. When a consumer thinks that a company’s products stack up better against the competition because the company is highly involved in its local chamber of commerce, it is because he or she infers that the company is trustworthy, involved in the community, and is an industry leader. When consumers know that a restaurant franchise is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 40% more likely to eat at the franchise in the next few months. When consumers know that an insurance company is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, they are 43% more likely to consider buying insurance from it. When consumers know that a small business is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 44% more likely to think favorably of it and 63% more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future.”

What do all of these business owners have that you don't? Depending on who you ask, everyone of them will give you a different answer. ✅ Peace of mind ✅ Me as their personal contact ✅ Access to unlimited business legal advice ✅ Protection from the HMRC They are just a couple of the responses I got, when I asked some of them. This is just a small snapshot of the people, I have joined up as members to Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) recently. What they all have in common though, is they chose to join FSB through me rather than online. Why? Because becoming a member through me, means they get a personal services. I helped them understand which of the benefits were most relevant to them, all of the additional support that is not obvious and access to all of my connections. I'm also at the end of the phone, if they forget what we discussed or what they need to do or, are even in a panic, as something has not gone to plan. I can more often than not, connect them with a service or resource that they need. It all saves them time and helps them focus on their businesses. In this picture there are charities, trades businesses, franchise owners, coaches, solicitors, travel agents, HR professionals, restaurant and bar owners, retails businesses, IT professional, printers, healthcare services, artists, cleaners, financial services, events organisers and recruiters. Basically, all different types of business. They vary from no employees up to 30 (although membership is up to 249). It has been a very enjoyable week. I organised two events, made a visit to the theatre, attended a venue showcase, and had some meetings about future events I am organising. My most viewed post followed my visit to the Old Joint Stock Theatre with eight guests. We had such a fun night playing Bingo at Tiffany’s. During the week, I organised an event on behalf of, and in conjunction with, a client - an invitation-only dinner event for some of the city’s business leaders at West Midlands Police Museum. My post about the event afterwards proved a popular read.
