🟢 Hydrogen is one of the world’s most in-demand resources, particular as we look to decarbonise ‘hard-to-abate’ industries. But existing production processes are highly energy intensive. Ki Hydrogen is looking to transform this 👇 ⭐️ Production of green hydrogen from waste biomass ⭐️ More cost competitive, and requires 50% less energy than existing processes ⭐️ Founded by Koji Muto (ex-ExxonMobil), Michael Stanton (PhD from University of Cambridge), Carl Banbury, PhD (ex-Maybe*, PhD from University of Birmingham) Read more about our G-Force investment in Ki Hydrogen here: https://lnkd.in/edb9CXut Louis Warner | Marian Gazdik | Katarina Pastrnak | Liam Nolan | David Hickson | Ellie Slaght | Simon Lovick | Lee Bernasconi #climatetech #deeptech #investment #accelerator

The existing hydrogen market is highly carbon-intensive or "Gray". Transitioning this market toward lower-carbon solutions is no small task. Large corporations around the world are announcing plans to aid the transition, but it will be the early-stage startup and growth companies that drive real disruption in the hydrogen space. SEP is tracking 388 early-stage hydrogen companies in the United States alone. These companies (pictured below) outnumber all other cleantech sectors we monitor, including Green Steel, Direct Air Capture, Concrete & Cement, Desalination, Clean Food, etc. To learn more about how these companies are disrupting the "Make, Move, Store, and Use" of the hydrogen industry, download SEP's newly-released "Innovation Trends" report using the link in the comments. #H2 #Hydrogen #Cleantech

Medium-distance hydrogen mobility may already be a reality. Thanks to its versatility, autonomy and low weight of H2 batteries, hydrogen is taking advantage in medium-distance mobility. It is also a non-polluting solution for heavy vehicles. The weigh of an electric truck with hydrogen cells is lower than electric battery one and has a range and charging time similar to the ones powered by fossil fuels. In trains, hydrogen is also relevant. Talgo intends to deliver its first train that uses H2 as fuel by 2023 and eliminate the current diesel locomotives on those sections where it is difficult to electrify. In terms of maritime transport, the first prototype of a hydrogen-powered ship is already a reality. The “Energy Observer” is the first to be powered by hydrogen and electricity that produces itself. For large and heavy ships, it is proposed to use hydrogen to manufacture synthetic fuels since there is no space to store all the hydrogen needed on long travels. In aviation, Airbus has committed to having its first hydrogen aircraft ready by 2035. But actually there is a problem with storage and the temperature at which hydrogen is stored. Currently, the technology already exists to propel airplanes that use hydrogen as fuel and have 3,500 km of autonomy. As for large ships, for longer distance flights it is necessary to use synthetic fuels that have hydrogen as main compound. As we can see, there are solutions for all means of transportation... just have to imagine and achieve it.

🌱 I am sharing some positive vibes or positive #energy and insights about a vision for a brighter and greener future. I have always been a glass half-full person, passionate, optimistic and hopeful. At GreenTech, we have it clear that the biggest generational and tranformation technology is #greenenergy. The headline for non-scientists is the game changer will not be EV batteries (mining = bad), it's not solar, it's not wind which is variable and not always where you need it. You need to make mental space for Hydrogen and bring it to the forefront of your understanding of the promise of a green sustainable future. With the accelerated turbo charged pace of innovation, hydrogen is no longer a distant dream but a nascent reality. Hydrogen is the cleanest of all energies, derived from H2O. Imagine capturing hydrogen in large portable "water" bottles, democratizing power generation to fuel our future. Is this a dream or a tangible goal? 🌍 Do you see the light? Do you think portable hydrogen energy delivery is achievable in the next 10 years?💡 Can you feel more positive in the face of climate change? I feel confident in the pace of innovation and that Hydrogen energy will be cheap and transportable in the next 10 years used in applications we only can imagine today. #greentech #cleantech #hydrogenenergy #bess #betterfuture #cleanenergy

4moGreat innovation and technology from Hazer Group Limited with its breakthrough Hazer production method both from an environmental and cost perspective. The issue that has generally been overlooked is how you transport this hydrogen. Here’s why. The pipelines that transport hydrogen are made of the same basic material as most of those built for natural gas: steel. But hydrogen is a much smaller molecule than methane, the main component in natural gas. In fact, hydrogen is the smallest molecule on Earth. Its size means it can squeeze into tiny spaces in certain steel alloys in a way that natural gas cannot. That can cause “embrittlement,” making the metal more likely to crack or corrode. Hydrogen molecules are also much more likely to leak from valves, seals, and other connection points on pipelines. And hydrogen is transported in a more pressurized state than natural gas, which puts more stress on the pipeline carrying it. Thats a problem Fluid-7 Pty Ltd has solved with its unique Fluid Membrane Barrier technology to enable upgrade of existing pipelines #Hydrogen #Pipelines #Innovation #Futureproof
