Director at Peopletopia. Transforming organisations through building quality leadership and management
We really like this article by the HBR. We meet so many managers who think of delegation as ‘dumping’ a task on someone else and so hate doing it. When we think of delegation as an opportunity for growth, learning, progression and stepping up it takes on a new meaning. It still takes time and effort to do it well, but when we see the multitude of benefits if its done well, it's worth it. https://zurl.co/pohN

Head of Telecoms Department | Executive MBA | Reinventing management every day to strengthen team cohesion, innovation & performance
🌟 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 🌟 As leaders, we constantly seek ways to enhance our coaching skills to empower and uplift our teams. I don’t know which coaching model you use with your team. Here are some transformative coaching models that every manager coach should consider: 🚀 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 (𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹, 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱) : A timeless classic, the GROW model is perfect for setting clear goals and actionable steps, making it a staple in the business coaching toolkit. It’s simple, easy to remember, and widely applicable. 🧗♂️ 𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗘 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 ( 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺) : For those looking to dive deeper, the ACHIEVE model offers a comprehensive path to personal development and overcoming challenges. Its weaknesses, can be time-consuming to work through all steps. 🔥 𝗙𝗨𝗘𝗟 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 ( 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗟𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻) : If continuous engagement and follow-up resonate with your leadership style, the FUEL model will drive behavioral changes and sustained development. This model requires commitment to ongoing process. 🔍𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 (𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁, 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻, 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄) : Clarity is key in decision-making, and the CLEAR model provides a focused framework for goal clarity and role definition. Its weaknesses, may not be as action-oriented as other models. 💡 𝗢𝗦𝗞𝗔𝗥 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 (𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄-𝗵𝗼𝘄, 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄) : Embrace positivity with the OSKAR model, a solution-focused approach that shifts the narrative from problems to solutions. It’s best for short-term problem-solving and action planning. 🌐 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 (𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗸, 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁) : Collaboration is at the heart of the STAR model, making it ideal for managers who value mutual growth and cognitive clarity. This model is particularly useful for managers new to leadership roles, looking to improve their problem-solving and stress management skills. Each model offers unique benefits and can be tailored to suit various coaching situations. Beyond these models lies the transformative art of questioning. Effective questioning techniques can empower your team to articulate their thoughts, feelings, and concerns, fostering self-discovery and personal growth #LeadershipCoaching #ManagerCoach #GrowthMindset #TeamDevelopment #BusinessCoaching #EffectiveQuestioning

Teaching turns tasks into achievements As this HBR piece notes, delegation without guidance sets teams up for frustration. Yet when we take time to teach, even complex tasks become achievable. I've found that approaching delegation as a teaching opportunity unlocks growth, for individual team members and organizations alike. When we take time to teach, not just delegate, we transform tasks into achievements. https://lnkd.in/e23jcacF

"Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind". Brené Brown Sometimes being clear about what we want, need and expect can feel uncomfortable. Keeping this perspective helps. It's something we'll cover as we dig into the juicy topic of setting boundaries and expectations in next week's Line Management Matters session. These are such important skills for managers to master but the discomfort means we often avoid them altogether. That avoidance results in overwhelm, confusion and sticky relationships. Not good. The session on Thursday 1 Feb will help you to: ✅ get super clear on the expectations and boundaries you want or need to set ✅ understand how to approach these conversations in a way that feels good and BUILDS connection ✅ get clarity on what can get in the way and how to overcome that ✅ use practical tools to guide you and help build this muscle so that you can have these conversations with ease This has been a popular session and there's still time to sign up to join us live on Thursday at 12.30 or catch the recording if you can't make the call. 📷 Fran Borg-Wheeler and me after one of our training development sessions full of energy and excitement for this programme.

Have you held on to a task you should delegate because it seemed like more work to train someone to do it? While that might be true, creating an SOP that breaks the task into specific steps makes delegating easier and creates results that can be replicated without you so you can take back that time. #sop #delegate #efficiencyboost

Helping blue light professionals find meaningful work, a better income, more flexible family time & allows them to keep making a difference | Become a professional independent reviewer with SILP School | Team Training
The problem with a substandard review is the cost of putting it right. It’s not only the cost of the work needed to improve the analysis, expand or rewrite sections of the report itself. The wider issue is that those who have participated, produced work for it or engaged with it will have lost faith in the process. That takes time & effort to re-establish. It’s worth investing in yourself if this work feels aligned to you. Consider mentoring, personal development & anything else that helps you feel confident to operate at your best. Being around others who get it really helps.
