February is American Heart month-- and a great time to talk about why heart disease is a women's health issue. I wrote this post for the American Heart Association a few years ago, and the key points hold: ❤️ the paradigm of coronary heart disease is based on men, and we still don't fully know all the ways that women are different (but we know some of them-- women have more disease in smaller vessels, and may not respond as well to PCI). ❤️ recognition and timely treatment of symptoms differs by gender, and this is a key factor in determining outcomes. 🔑takeaways? patient education and prevention (primary care tasks!) are paramount, and equity in research remains a high priority. https://lnkd.in/gRwjmBgv #primarycare #cardiovasculardisease #womenshealth #hearthealth #nursepractitioner

🌍 On #WorldHealthDay, the theme is clear: "My health, my right." Yet, for those battling headache disorders, access to effective treatment is often hindered by onerous step therapy protocols. Did you know? Headache disorder patients are among the most impacted by these barriers to care. It's time for change. Let's stand together to advocate for the Safe Step Act, ensuring that patients have timely access to the treatments prescribed by their healthcare providers, without unnecessary delays or obstacles. Join us in the fight for equitable healthcare access. 💪 #HealthForAll #SafeStepAct #HOH2024
