The Post-ICU diary helps critical care staff engage the family more effectively in the patient's care. In the ICU Liberation Bundle, known as the A-F Bundle, the F-element emphasizes 'Family Engagement and Empowerment'. Unfortunately, this crucial aspect is often overlooked Initiating family involvement can be delayed due to time constraints and effort required. Post-ICU addresses this challenge by actively involving families in care through journaling. This proactive approach can significantly impact the length of stay, occurrence of PICS, and overall post-ICU recovery, thereby influencing the hospital's bottom line. The digital diary is the only scientifically proven tool that directly enhances family care and engagement. Contact us to learn more about the Post-ICU diary and the role it can play in your ICU.

Every day in the ICU, teams face challenges that most people can't imagine. The work is vital, but can be physically and emotionally intense. That's why it's crucial to check in with each other—not just today, but every day. R U OK? Day on Sept 12 serves as a reminder that the need for support and connection knows no calendar. Whether a colleague, a friend, or even yourself, ICU professionals should remember that a simple conversation can make all the difference. 💬 Encourage one another to start the conversation… 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen—really listen 3. Encourage action if needed 4. Check in again soon Every moment counts in the high-stakes environment of the ICU. Let’s ensure the ICU community feels supported, valued and never alone.

When you are on "Life Support", it may be necessary to take several high doses of "Antibiotics", which can have some negative side effects but are essential for your immediate survival and recovery from "Life Support". We've just moved from the "Life Support" stage to the "ICU (Intensive Care Unit)" stage. The medications are not yet completed. While in the ICU, it's still crucial to remain disciplined and vigilant about all the procedures & all the medications to avoid reverting to the "Life Support" stage. At the same time, staying calm and hopeful is very important, as we will eventually need to recover from the illness and move past this medication phase. So we should not panic. Remaining calm and staying positive are the only ways to go from here!

I recommend reading this interesting article!!!
💡I am delighted to announce the publication of our work on the clinical effectiveness of the corrected nose-earlobe-xiphoid distance formula (CoNEX) for determining the internal length of nasogastric tubes in adults. The findings show that this formula has the potential to emerge as a safer alternative to existing methods. 🔍 Read the full-text via https://lnkd.in/eZ8AsexX 🤝 I want to thank the co-authors - Kurt Boeykens, Dimitri Beeckman and Tim Torsy - and Intensive and Critical Care Nursing for making this publication possible.

Do you like / use Dex? @emswami and I are talking Dex drips today, specifically in the emergency department. Although dexmeditomidine is used quite frequently in the ICU, the ED is a special use case. Check out the video and let me know if that's something you are using in your practice. #emergencynurse #criticalcarenurse #sedation #ICU

2moLove this! Readmissions are so frustrating for the patient, family, care team & it puts a strain on insurance. Discharge planning starts on admission with a comprehensive care plan.
