What a fantastic way to wrap up the year! Our annual Christmas Office Gatherette brought the festive cheer with plenty of delicious food, refreshing drinks, and the much-anticipated Christmas Quiz – always a highlight of the season. This year’s quiz ended with an exciting twist: the Battle of the Tracys! Both Tracys went head-to-head in a tense tie-breaker question for the final prize 🏆👏 A huge well done to everyone who took part – the competition was fierce, and the prizes were well-earned! 🎁🎉 Events like this remind us of the great connections and team spirit we share at HCL. A big thank you to everyone who joined, contributed, and helped make it such a memorable evening. Here’s to a wonderful holiday season and an incredible year ahead for us all!

🎄✨ Again… Christmas… December has returned to remind us of what truly matters. ✨🎄 Have you paused for a moment this December? To reflect. To feel. To notice. The past year has been full of challenges, perhaps pain, or maybe small or big victories. Every moment, even if it seemed tough, helped you grow. Every lesson is a gift for your tomorrow. ❓ What have you achieved this year? If you’re saying “nothing special” right now, pause and think again. Even the smallest things matter: you learned a new skill, helped someone close to you, perhaps overcame a difficult period, or dared to start something new. These little steps shape your journey. 🕯️ December invites us to reflect: - What have I learned this year? - How have I changed my world? - What am I grateful for? Allow yourself tonight... Spend 5 minutes in silence. Ask yourself these questions. Say 12 words of gratitude to those who inspired, helped, or supported you. And don’t forget to thank yourself – for moving forward, even when it’s hard. Dear reader, you are a light in this world. How bright it shines depends entirely on you. Let it glow! ✨ Share this message with those who need a reminder to pause and feel gratitude. Together, let’s create light in this world! 🌟 🎄 Share and remind others that taking a moment to pause is important. 🌟 Thank you for being here. With warmest wishes, Edita Jak.

December: A Month of Reflection, Gratitude, and New Beginnings As December unfolds, it brings with it a unique mix of emotions and opportunities. For many of us, this is a time to pause and reflect on the year gone by — the wins we celebrated, the challenges we navigated, and the lessons we learned. This month also inspires gratitude. I find myself thankful for the support of family, friends, and colleagues who have been my pillars of strength throughout the year. It's a season to cherish togetherness, recognize those who made a difference in our journeys, and extend kindness to others. But December isn’t just about looking back. It’s also about looking forward. The year-end spark encourages us to envision the path ahead and set intentions for what’s to come. For me, it’s a time to plan meaningful initiatives, both personally and professionally, that create impact and inspire growth. As we embrace the joy and nostalgia of the holiday season, let’s not forget to celebrate ourselves — our resilience, our achievements, and the countless ways we’ve grown this year. Here’s to a December filled with warmth, gratitude, and hope. Let’s make the most of the final chapter of 2024 and step into 2025 with confidence and purpose! What are your December reflections or plans? I’d love to hear how this month resonates with you. #DecemberReflections #Gratitude #NewBeginnings

What a year. Some sadness as we said goodbye to loved ones, some challenges which feel smaller now in hindsight, much progress and some amazing experiences – not least being awarded for my services to the channel which I was still amazed about weeks later (thank you all again). I won’t be doing “new year, new me” (although I may try to throw a bit more greenery and less Dairy Milk into my diet) but I will sit down at some point over Christmas to reflect on what went well, what I should do more of and what I’ll try very hard not to repeat. I’ll do this for work and personal life separately. If you’ve never done this before I urge you to sit down with your favourite beverage and consider for each month at a time from January 2024: · The challenges you thought you’d never overcome but did · The things you were concerned about which didn’t end up as big a deal · The small and big wins · The lovely things people said to you · Silly, unjustified things you said to yourself · Things you learnt · Lovely times spent with favourite people Most of us will look at the 12 months drawn out this way and realise that we’ve achieved far more than we thought, worried about stuff we needn’t and learn more by trying and sometimes failing than we ever did in formal education. We will all also hopefully have enjoyed lots of lovely stuff. Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Have a fabulous Christmas. And let me know if when you’re doing these versions of these lists you usually add anything else cool.

It is almost Memorial Day! The unofficial beginning of Summer is almost upon us!! Before you complete this week and begin to focus on the long holiday weekend., I have an important suggestion for you. Take a few moments to “complete” NEXT week too. Decide what you want to accomplish next week. Make a plan to achieve those things. Commit your plan to writing. Commit to its execution. Share your plan with accountability partners, up, down, and latterly. Few people actually do this. Many will just "escape" this week and go home for the long weekend. They will be BBQing those ribs vaguely worried about next week. Then – when they get back to work on Tuesday – they will let next week happen “to” them. They will spend a significant part of Tuesday wondering what they should do with Wednesday. By the time they get “settled” they will have lost most of next week and will blame it on Memorial Day. Their lack of a plan will steal some of their holiday celebration from them – and it will steal most of next week from them as well. If you have a plan for next week before you wrap up this week – it will make your holiday much more fun! It will enable you to leave work at work. And it will let you hit the ground running when you get in on the 28th. So before you wrap up this week, take some time to decide next week in advance. "Next week" just might be the most important thing you have left to do "this week."

🎄Why I don’t reflect back on the past year during the festive period 🎄 Every December, there’s almost an unspoken expectation to reflect: to celebrate your wins, mourn losses, and chart the progress of the year gone by. But for me, Christmas, the festive period and the new year isn’t about looking back. The past year, with all its triumphs and trials, has already played its part. I don’t need to revisit its details to know it's helped me to grow. Grow in confidence again, grow in knowledge and skill, grow in perseverance and determination to overcome health issues, get back to a fitness programme (eventually) etc. In fact, I’ve learned that reflecting too deeply on the past can weigh me down. It keeps my thoughts tethered to what was, instead of freeing me to focus on all of the potential ahead. The stories I want to create, the connections I want to build, and the dreams I want to chase are all waiting ahead—not behind. So, instead of reflecting, I’m going to embrace this season by: ✨ Letting go of the pressure to summarise a year’s worth of life. ✨ To appreciate the people and moments around me right now. ✨ To step into the new year with curiosity, not closure. So if you're celebrating, have a wonderful Christmas.
