Let's talk about the #dreamgap....girls believe they can be anything, but does the world? 📍By age 5 girls stop believing they can be scientists, astronauts, engineers, big thinkers, CEOs ..the list goes on. 📍By age 7 girls are more likely to think boys are smarter than them and less likely to be given a science related toy. 📍Parents are twice as likely to search "is my son gifted" than "is my daughter gifted" The #DreamGap for young girls still exists, but new research shows the challenges don’t lie in girls lacking self-confidence or drive — the gaps often occur in the world around them. Even though progress has been made toward gender equality, stereotypes and societal biases still exist that can affect a girl’s trajectory and future choices. The #BarbieDreamGap Project is a global mission dedicated to closing the gap by challenging gender stereotypes and helping undo the biases that hold girls back from reaching their full potential. 🌟Since 1959 Barbie has worked to create a world where girls see unlimited possibilities. 🌟Since 2019, Barbie has donated $250,000 every year to non-profit partners that work directly with girls and enable them to reach their full potential. I encourage you to watch and share this, mum's, dad's, brothers and bosses ⬇️ help #CloseTheDreamGap - it's up to all of us. Girls needs to see #brilliantwomen being #brilliantwomen. Thank you to Elaine Allen for sharing, this really hit home. https://lnkd.in/eqcE_hfz #CloseTheDreamGap #YouCanBeAnything #STEM

C'mon Barbie, let's go… Make a new world, full of equality. Five years ago, Mattel launched a campaign called Dream Gap, which highlights the cruel fact that girls dream freely about their future until the age of five, but afterwards, they increasingly give up on dream jobs or dream positions because they see that this is how the world works. The world does indeed work a bit like this, one of the most tangible proofs being the #GenderPayGap, which makes the situation more unfair for women around the world, both at work and at home. Among other things, WeAreOpen also fights to work together to end the gender pay gap and to ensure that pay truly measures talent. And of course, we fight for the girls as well. After all, how will someone become a leader if they give up on it at age five? Join us in our fight and download our Action Plan for closing the gender pay gap. 💪 https://lnkd.in/d3nARYce #WeAreOpen #NyitottakVagyunk #MindTheGenderGap #GenderPayGap

Looking for a place to work virtually this fall or winter? The wifi works great in Palm Springs, California, and is beautiful between October and May (now, not so much unless you are a lizard). Not sure what to do or see, or where to stay while there? Check out our latest InfoGuide. I've spent many hours working in between tennis, pool time, visiting a museum or two, and staring at the San Jacinto Mountain, so I know it's possible. We'll research good places to co-work on our next trip to add to the list. https://lnkd.in/gxRE2kqS #zekeandterriadventures Zeke Mead #workfromanywhere #palmsprings #thingstodoinpalmsprings #californiaadventures #californiaroadtrip

On the back of this months International Women's Day events and the clear findings that have been outlined around the pay gap and superannuation gap that are still so apparent in today's society. Let's not only focus on how we improve the current situation for women in the workforce, but look at how empower the next generations of women to believe they can be anything they dream to be. What a powerful and thought provoking campaign from #Barbie and certainly worth a watch in under 2 minutes https://lnkd.in/gge3Jdce In a world where we are unfortunately still discussing equal opportunities for women and closing the gender pay gap, it has made me reflect on how I use my voice to support such an important topic. I never used to be one to speak up and advocate for equal opportunities for women, because I've never really felt it affected me. If I'm honest, part of me (naively) probably didn't want to rock the boat either. I've always been lucky enough to have supportive male bosses (and I still do), who have encouraged and inspired me to be the best I can be. I am also very lucky to have had supportive parents who pushed me to do whatever I wanted to do, even if that was to join a male dominated industry. It wasn't until I joined the Met however, that I see how important it is to speak out and support the things that matter to us, even if we feel we are not affected by them. Once again, I am lucky. Lucky and grateful to work for an organisation that ensures equal opportunities and pay for women. An organisation that campaigns to ensure the voices of the minority are heard. However, not everyone is this lucky. Some women and girls will never have the opportunity to reach their full potential, because some leaders of organisations do not believe they can do it and some will not have been encouraged themselves to believe this from a young age. Yet we can all make a difference to this and it starts at home... 💡 As parents, guardians, family members, teachers, neighbours etc. What are we teaching our children? Are we teaching the value of equality? Having recently had a baby girl myself, and after seeing this campaign, it has never been more relevant for me to share this important message. Let's teach our girls that there are no limits to their beliefs and capabilities and let's teach our boys that girls are capable, allies and most importantly; equal. Well done #Barbie #Closethedreamgap #Genderpaygap #Genderequality #Womeninbusiness #WomeninLeadership #Equality

At first glance, you might think that this is just another girl-power message. But, stop and think about it. Isn't girl-power better for everyone? It spreads equality and lifts people, making the world a better place. It's worth a listen. Let's ensure we empower young girls to believe in themselves and their limitless potential, breaking down barriers and stereotypes that hold them back. #dobetter #bethedifference https://lnkd.in/eDuKFR4i

Strategic advisor to senior leaders on transforming leadership, culture, & business performance through digital marketing & social media | LinkedIn Top 1% since 2017 | Sharing actionable insights regularly.
Yesterday I was chatting to a friend about #TheDreamGap and why it’s so important Because 10 years ago I remember reading that achieving #GenderEquality in the global job market could skyrocket global GDP by a whopping $12 trillion annually by 2025! That’s like the economies of 🇯🇵 Japan, 🇬🇧 UK and 🇩🇪 Germany combined. That’s the economic power of full female participation. In fact it’s probably a lot more than that now! ✨ Enter The #Barbie Dream Gap Project. Launched in 2018 for Barbie’s 60th birthday bash, this global initiative is on a mission to shatter gender stereotypes and fight the biases shaping our girls' futures. Why? Because every girl deserves to dream without limits! 🌟 Flash forward to July 2023: Celebrating the premiere of the #BarbieMovie, the project teamed up with Save the Children International to harness the power of dreams in battling global poverty. Since its start, the Dream Gap Project has donated over $2 million to organizations like Girls Write Now and She's the First focusing on #mentoring, skills development, and #LeadershipDevelopment 💪 These funds are helping to equip and empower girls and young women, preparing them for the workforce with the belief that they can be anything – just like Barbie. Closing the dream gap isn’t a dream anymore – it’s becoming a reality. Here’s how you can help close #TheDreamGap: 1. Educate yourself and others about gender disparities. 2. Support organisations aimed at empowering girls. 3. Mentor young girls in your community. 4. Challenge and speak out against gender stereotypes. 5. Buy from female entrepreneurs and artists. 6. Advocate for gender equality policies. 7. Be a role model for ambition and resilience. Together, we can make a difference. Every action counts towards building a world where girls can grow up believing they can be anything. #SaturdayShoutOut #EmWilson #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #SDG1 #SDG5 #Diversity #Inclusion
