Facilitator of Incredible Connections Between Engineering/IT Professionals & Excellent Organizations
If you are a professional looking to position yourself for a career move in this #newyear, then now would be best time to do the following 2 things: 1️⃣ Be reflective of your career to date – what have you accomplished personally and professionally? What do you do best? What do you enjoy doing? What direction are you looking to take your career in? The latter could mean a variety of things such as stepping out of an individual contributor role and leveraging your experience into supervision or management. Or perhaps moving to a new industry or field entirely. The key is to know what you want, and to pursue wholeheartedly whatever that is. A lot of professionals from my experience, and I notice this more from people who have been with one company for the majority of their careers, do not know how to kickstart this sort of career reflection, and ultimately have a hard time pinpointing what they’d like to do. If you are timid about switching companies, then make it a point to explore new opportunities within your current organization to avoid career depression or burnout. 2️⃣ Refine & package your personal brand and market yourself accordingly – knowing who are you, what you do well, and how you can offer value to a new company will make you more attractive to hiring managers and recruiters. The key is to steer your career in the direction you’d like to take it. Career moves at all levels should be well-thought out and your reasons/motives should be clear in your mind and clearly articulated to a potential new employer. Let’s face it, changing careers is daunting for most people, but preparation is key. Remember, what you do as a profession should be rewarding and bring your life deeper meaning. #careermove #engineering #jobsearch #rebranding #careercounseling #careercoaching

What’s your job search WHY? And why does it even matter? It’s often that I kick off a call with someone who is exploring the market, yet they pause when I ask why they want to leave their company. Sounds funny but it’s real! Understanding your job search “why” keeps you on track for finding the right opportunity and helps you avoid accepting the wrong one. We all get shiny object syndrome, me included!! But by keeping our “why” on the forefront of our mind, we minimize landing in a role that caught our attention for $$, promotions, or something that really doesn’t align with our values. If work/life balance is your true WHY, remember that. And when that opportunity comes knocking to lead the next big product line and be the future of this business, PAUSE. Is this really where you want to be?! Neither is wrong, the purpose is to navigate your career for YOU. Your WHY will always bring you back to what you really want. #jobsearch #career #therightteamrightnow #xplorasearch #xplora
