How do you consider disability inclusion when it comes to your office, working culture, practices, products and services?
It can be difficult to know where to start with any DEIB journey. And our experience consulting in this field at Missive suggests that there is also an ownership challenge - who's job is it to think about inclusion in your business? The answer is invariably 'everyone'. Everyone can make a positive difference to someone else's experience of inclusion and belonging. If you're wondering what you can do and where to start, I recommend adding this new podcast from Project Nemo to your commute or lunch hour https://lnkd.in/eeb3xHFW
In the words of Kris Foster, who shares his story in episode one, disability inclusion, "that's better for everybody, right? Not just for people with disabilities."
Weaving disability inclusion into the fabric of business is not only the right thing to do, it makes the most business sense.
PwC's Global Disability Inclusion Leader, Leandro Camilo, in conversation with the Valuable 500 states, "a strong commitment to disability inclusion and accessibility is both the right thing to do and a vital ingredient to our success.”

Don’t be part of the 80% that’s doing nothing. Be the change agent who is doing something to ensure that your employees with disabilities are feeling valued and seen. Here’s a fact - if you have more than 5 employees/people on your team, the odds are you have at least one employee with a disability. Although they might not have felt safe enough to disclose it to you. Now is the time to start shifting your culture around disability inclusivity. It’s not too late!

This… is true. There’s also been very little posts on social media across the board in this area.
Is it due to the hesitation and anxiousness of what’s happening within our government and the presidential election that’s making companies not push onwards with their commitment for our disability communities?
Is it the inflation that is impacting companies where their focus has shifted away from this to that? If so, something’s not right… there should be a balance as one would think.
I cannot help but wonder what assessment tools Disability:IN is using to rate all the companies they have rated… Who’s doing these assessments? How are they authentically done with integrity? How are these companies getting high scores when this is the case… this post speaks volumes.
Nonetheless, that should not slow us down, but drives us forward, and continue to speak out, speak up, push for changes that need to be made as there still so much to be done for our communities. What can we do to drive our companies to follow through with what they preach?
What can we do as a community to recify this?
