Such a GREAT discussion about #VirtualCare this afternoon! Thank you Matthew Rogers, Dr Diane Watson, Dr Karol Petrovska, Amie Donnelly, & Prof Meredith Makeham for being brilliant speakers I loved hearing about some presumptions being debunked (i.e., Are people in rural areas more likely to use virtual care? Are younger people more likely to use vitural care? Do virtual care appointments disrupt care coordination? Is virtual care an add-on to in-person medical care?) and the 6 key principles of consumers re #VirtualCare experiences: - high quality, safe & uncompromised healthcare - integrating virtual & face2face services - having the choice of virtual or not - opportunity to dip in/out - technology that works - family/carers involved
🖥 Virtual care is a rapidly evolving model of care – but what are patients saying about it? Join consumers, clinicians and thought leaders in virtual care exploring patient experiences of care, and next steps for digitally-enabled care. Panelist's include: 🌟 Dr Diane Watson (Chief Executive, Bureau of Health Information) 🌟 Dr Karol Petrovska (Director of Connected Care Team, NSW Ministry of Health) 🌟 Mr Matthew Rogers (Consumer Representative) 🌟 Ms Amie Donnelly (Nurse Unit Manager, virtualKIDS) 🌟 Prof Meredith Makeham (Associate Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Health). Chaired by Dr Melissa (Liss) Brunner (Convenor, Digital Health & Informatics Network at the University of Sydney) 📅 Thursday 15th August ⏲ 4:00pm - 5:00pm 📍 Online via Teams Register now: https://lnkd.in/gsMJX9Vv

The current state of health care biases and supports a vicious cycle of declining learning and capabilities representing a classic #capability trap, as expounded by Nelson Repenning and John Sterman. The capability trap and unexploited win-win opportunities in #capabilitybuilding are common in many contexts, but the crisis in health care offers a unique scenario which may allow health care organizations to improve their performance. Sustainability affords a new avenue to examine value, ways to get out of capability traps, improve organizational efficiency and most importantly the bottomline. In this recent short review, we review sustainability practices in cardiovascular medicine that can be deployed including some of the cultural and political terrains one needs to navigate in a easy to read format in the prestigious European Heart Journal. A shout out to my first author Sadeer Al-Kindi for joining me in this most important endeavor.
