Anyone else in the mood for some salsa music and some great tasting food? 💃 🌮 We told you last month about a new arts center opening in #Verona. A former 12,000-square-foot historic schoolhouse in the city's downtown is being turned into ART House 360. WEDC provided a $250,000 grant to help this restoration project. Next week, a fundraiser will be held to help support the project and give the public a chance to see the space for themselves! Learn more! ⤵️

Removing that DREAD😕 of numbers and replacing with CLARITY💡 . Profit Coach working with business owners to create a profitable business and have guilt-free spending in their personal life.
It was our wedding anniversary this week and so we went out for the 'anniversary dinner' on Saturday evening - which was fabulous at Number One in Edinburgh. We also went to an art exhibition at the wonderful Lemond Gallery (thanks Ken Lemond) where we treated ourselves to a couple of paintings. We both love collecting Scottish Art and we never know when we will come across a piece that we really want. That is why we have an 'art pot'. Money put aside each month so that we can buy something when we see it with no guilt or debate of whether we should be spending the money - that is what we have put the money aside for. I call it guilt-free spending and it takes the stress out of buying something you love and want rather than need. What would you like to build up a 'pot' for so you can spend guilt-free? #profitfirst #guiltfreespending #cashmanagement

Actors Federal Credit Union, a “cooperatively run, not-for-profit financial organization chartered in 1962 for the benefit of members of Actors' Equity Association,” recently signed a new longterm lease extension for a larger space at 1560 Broadway in Times Square. GFP Real Estate was able to accommodate the nonprofit's growth with a new space on the same floor, "a win-win for both the tenant and ownership,” GFP’s Alan Steinberg told Commercial Observer. How the country as a whole shows awareness of not only their own country but other countries around the world that are being deeply impacted by misinformation and disinformation. Brings attention to the lethargy on the part of the reader or listener to seek greater resources to expound on the issues being presented. Acknowledges what a society can chose to expose their citizens to. Truly is commendable and from my own country in the USA, a lesson in seeking and gaining reliable information from ethical resources. It is incredibly expandable to have insights of one's country through the eyes of another's country. Very timely exhibit and article.
"Livraria Lello has been called the world’s most beautiful bookstore, and its Neo-Gothic exterior façade and interior winding wooden staircase draw more than 1 million visitors a year, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Porto—Portugal’s second-largest city. Meanwhile, the book shop’s charitable arm, the Livraria Lello Foundation, aims to use reading, knowledge and culture to promote critical thinking." https://lnkd.in/eyjXe46y

Alex shared this article with me and my wheels have been spinning ever since. Live theatre, music, dance, and story-telling have nothing but positive impact on us, but the post-pandemic economics for nonprofit theatres are more challenging than ever. How do you balance financial health and accessibility? Philanthropy? Public support? Those don't often come with a reliability that feels like standing on solid ground, but maybe I'm sure, like all things, it's a combination of things - a sustainable business model, philanthropy, and public investment. What I know for sure is that we are better when we have the joy and inspiration of the arts, and our communities are healthier when we ensure that those experiences are available to everyone. https://lnkd.in/g8EVFqDp

What are Mexico's Colima dogs doing in the Parthenon? 🐕🏛️ These Mexican artifacts came to the museum as donations, previously collected by community-members while abroad. Now, these Nashville museum workers are using repatriation as an opportunity to raise awareness. In a new exhibition, curators at Nashville's Parthenon museum share recent repatriation efforts with community members to highlight the ethical dilemmas and enduring impacts of collecting antiquities while abroad. Learn more about this cultural restitution project: https://ow.ly/cx8k50SHiGj If you're considering purchasing a keepsake abroad, consult local laws and review our #BuyerBeware checklist: https://lnkd.in/eapHQv34

Make your voice heard - Complete the Portland City Council survey! Please take just 3 minutes, right now, to give your opinion on the REUSE and revitalization of the existing Keller Auditorium! The City of Portland's new survey will be used to convey the opinion of whoever responds so please contribute to this effort with your input! We jumped in and answered the short 10 question survey. We were taken aback at the wording of several questions that appear skewed to give results that would favor building new and abandoning the existing Keller. Turning lemons to lemonade, just sharing how Restore Oregon answered those: Question 6 - NO, because it asks only about the City's investment in a "new" facility vs investment in the existing facility Question 7 - We don't want or need a new use that is unfunded! The first thought was to just not answer the question because it will be a distraction and is meant to confuse. But, in fact, this question is an opportunity to reinforce the obvious: "There is only one use - the City must keep the existing use as Oregon's premier performing arts facility. We do not support any ideas for new or different uses." Question 9 - we chose not to answer the first "yes, no, unsure" because of the way the question is written. We wrote in the "Briefly explain" box: "This is a positive solution to balance much needed renovation work of the existing Keller while keeping a performance schedule for 7 months of each year. It's a win-win to achieve downtown's revitalization and reinvestment in the arts and culture at the existing Keller." Question 10 -- we elaborated on the 4 points from the Halprin Landscape Conservancy, starting with "Reusing and reimaging Our Next Keller is the best overall option." Finally, anyone can take this survey, not just people who live in the City. Thanks for your help! https://lnkd.in/gnGKr-5G . . . . . #restoreoregon #architecture #advocacy #KellerAuditorium #Reuse #KellerFountain #ournextkeller #halprinlandscapeconservancy #TedWheeler #commissionerdanryan #commissionercarmenrubio #commissionermingusmapps #PortlandCityCommissionerReneGonzalez #downtownportland

The British Museum should be ashamed of themselves. Is there no #security there at all? "Of the 2,000 pieces, nearly 500 were damaged, but not stolen. Of these, 350 had elements stolen, particularly #gold mounts. This gold has almost certainly been melted down for scrap. A further 140 were damaged by tool marks in unsuccessful attempts to remove valuable parts. This leaves 1,500 complete items which were #stolen. Of these, 351 have now been recovered from #Denmark, 290 via the #Thorvaldsens #Museum and 61 direct from #Gradel. The BM has also recovered six items from other sources. In addition, the location of a further 300 #objects has been established." #britishmuseum #artist #creativity #arthistory #heritagetreasures #heritagebuilding #heritagetourism #heritageconservation #culture #culturalheritage #societyandculture #england #restitution #restitutionlaw #artcollector #contemporaryart #theft #criminallaw #ruleoflaw #policeinvestigation #localpeople #criminaljusticesystem #lawyers #lawyerlife #law #legaladvice #donations #fundraisingcampaign #securitysystem #alarm #accountability #integrity #integritymatters #standards #standardsmatter #change #customerexperience https://lnkd.in/dNB-e6aX
