Meet Liora Grushcow, engineering co-op (intern) based in Toronto, Ontario where she is developing her career in transportation while attending the University of Toronto. The ability to use technical tools to help address social issues was what attracted her to a career in engineering. She is working on several battery electric bus projects, and the Sheppard Subway Extension, in Toronto. “It’s a rewarding area of work because there are people who don’t have easy transportation routes, and because of my studies, I can give them one. I get to take a skill that I have and make an impact on individuals’ lives every day,” says Liora. This summer there are nearly 350 interns and co-ops at HDR around the world, each bringing unique skills and doing meaningful work to grow in their careers. Thank you, interns and co-ops for all that you do at HDR. #InternAppreciation

As a former Geography co-op student from University of Waterloo who got his start with a small traffic/transportation engineering firm (now BA Consulting Group Ltd.) in Toronto and who spent some great years with HDR in Portland Oregon, I commend HDR for seeing the value in developing the next generation of talent by taking on a co-op student. Liora Grushcow - enjoy your work term! I learned quite a bit from my 5 work terms in the pre-personal computer age!
