Insulin pens can be significantly easier to use than syringes and vials — but there are a few limits with pens, too. Like the dosing. Sure, it's fun and easy to twist and turn that little knob, dialing up your dose with those little clicks, but what if you want to take less than 1 unit or less than .5 units? Yes, people with diabetes need teeny tiny doses of insulin sometimes! Pens don't really offer that option. That's ONE reason why I hack my insulin pen with syringes.
