In December 2020, in order to attend the Fortune Brainstorm Health conference, I received my COVID-19 booster. About two weeks later, still fatigued, my body ached like I had the flu. I thought my thyroid was acting up so I went in to get some blood tests. My thyroid was fine, but I had elevated inflammation markers indicative of some autoimmune reaction or condition. That began my journey into the world of rheumatology and chronic pain management, being diagnosed and then undiagnosed with a multitude of conditions including undifferentiated connective tissue disease and lupus. I still have no diagnosis. From December 2020 I experienced progressive inflammation, pain, and eventual immobilization of most of my body. I couldn't sleep, be an active and present mother to my young children, or focus and work effectively. I was laid off from my company in March 2023 and terrified of losing hope. I managed to get on disability and use the break in my career to focus on my health and healing. I changed my diet, engaged in aggressive occupational and physical therapy, and was on a bunch of different drugs. I am grateful everyday for my family, fiancée, friends, and doctor who all rallied to support me. Today I am about 70-80% recovered. I realize I am one of the lucky ones. There are tens of thousands of people who have been permanently injured by the COVID-19 vaccine. Most are pro-vaccine and remain pro-vaccine to this day. All have suffered alone, without adequate government, medical or scientific support. I searched for COVID-19 vaccine resources or online communities a million times, learning from the best out there (Susannah Fox). I continuously came up with nothing. The other day I discovered an organization called React19 and have been overwhelmed with emotion since (thank you, Fiona Lowenstein for the connection to Yale researcher, Dr. Harlan Krumholz!) Not only did it connect me with a community of others like me, but it validated my experience. These resources need to exist alongside information for the COVID-19 vaccine. Shockingly, risk is omitted. It is a disservice to us all to ignore the inconvenient truths about vaccine injury. www.REACT19.0rg https://vaers.hhs.gov/ #COVIDvaccine #COVID #LongCOVID #vaccineinjury #NIH #Vaccineresearch

Being able to live in the gray and consider and weigh competing truths and risks at the same time is what critical thinking is all about. I continue to believe that vaccines are crucial for individual and community health WHILE AT THE SAME TIME accepting that vaccine injuries happen. We need to step up: track the data, have the conversation, weigh the risks, and support those who fall into the “side effects may include…” bucket while still pushing for improved and effective vaccines. Thanks for the important and vulnerable post, Susan E. Schaffler. We need to be talking about this. #vaccineinjury #covidvaccine #vaccineresearch

Recognising the role of remuneration in pharmacy services is paramount, especially as vaccination becomes increasingly prominent worldwide. Adequate compensation not only acknowledges the pharmacist's expertise but also serves as a catalyst for enhanced patient care and increased accessibility. Equitable remuneration drives innovation, prompting pharmacies to implement efficient vaccination models, ultimately contributing to widespread disease prevention and fostering universal health coverage.
