Here we go..............................................the first sign of remotely hot weather and let's tell people to take regular breaks, drink some water, wear sun cream. I trained for years to tell people this stuff 🤣

Here we go, 2 hot days in Newcastle and HSE get the warning out 🤣, read the forecast it’s rain for the next couple of days, no doubt the HSE with put out an alert on umbrella safety

Australian construction industry, water and ice readily available. 37 degrees go in the shade, 40 degrees go home. No working in the rain. Unions have power over there. A young roofer died of dehydration after working in 43 degree heat. A resulting court case found the employer to be liable for not showing due diligence. I’ve also worked during the winter out in the shetlands. Former steel fixer. If you’re complaining about working when it’s to hot or to cold you’re talking to the wrong man.

Calm down. It's not extreme hot weather. Why do you have to dramatise? It's only 26 degrees. And there's no global warming, just in case you thow that in as well.

When is there going to be a 'maximum' temperature in the work place?.....that's what is needed!

In my workplace, they decided to relax the dress code from tomorrow. [allowing the construction workers, including me(which I will not follow), to wear shorts 3/4], which lead, from today, to people wearing trainers on site or removing their PPE next to people doing dangerous activities.....

We have had the briefing regarding access to water, sports bottles at work stations, extra cooling off breaks (TL discretion), managing specific vulnerabilities we are aware of, etc., etc. We (society in general) can go OTT in the UK when we have some decent warm to hot weather. This naturally comes into the workplace. Good communication, setting expectations in the short term and maintaining a safe working framework is key. Any seasonal equipment like fans should be provided safety inspected and ready for use, with the potential for trailing cables managed so we don't introduce new safety issues. The problem in the UK weather is the peaks and troughs in temperature. We generally sit within a 20 degree average most of the year. We have an unusual hot spike and it comes with a weeks notice rather than a gradual rise into summer and fall as we head into autumn. We react to a surge of employee demands to help cope and just when you get it in place, the temperature drops away again.
